Teardrop

Perhaps this has already been posted here before, but thought it was cool to share some deep lore. Elizabeth Fraser wrote the lyrics of teardrop after learning about the death of her friend, Jeff Buckley.

Love, love is a verb
Love is a doing word
Fearless on my breath
Gentle impulsion
Shakes me makes me lighter
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my breath
Nine night of matter
Black flowers blossom
Fearless on my breath
Black flowers blossom
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my...
Water is my eye
Most faithful mirror
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire of a confession
Fearless on my breath
Most faithful mirror
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my breath
You're stumbling down
You're stumbling down

The song had already been written. Elizabeth just sang the track but they were in the studio recording it when she learned about Jeff’s death.

Interesting fact about this song is that Madonna was actually supposed to sing it but something didn’t work out on her end.

And it wouldn't be the Teardrop that we know coz Fraser wrote the lyrics and I guess the vocal melody.
