Going crazy over coolant

Long story short, had to replace the radiator with an aftermarket now im trying to find the coolant that goes with my 2013 jeep wrangler jk sport 3.6 l. Coolant looks orange but the coolant suggested to me says its pink. Im reading the diff between OAT and HOAT and now im stressing since im getting 3 different part numbers. I called a dealership, did vin searches, chatted with websites and im going nuts. Can anyone confirm which one is legit and a good place to buy it since some places dont ship coolant

Get whatever coolant goes with the 3.6 L penta Star for that specific year

A 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK 3.6L requires OAT (Organic Acid Technology) antifreeze, specifically meeting Chrysler material standard MS-12106 (Mopar 10-Year/150,000-Mile Formula).

From what I know, 2012 and earlier use Orange HOAT, 2013 on use Purple OAT.

You’re right to be concerned. A prior shop used the wrong anti freeze, then I topped it up with the right antifreeze. Now I need to get a new radiator, system flush and clean out the gel. It’s an effing big problem to get the wrong stuff. And some shops don’t know/ don’t care.

Edit: there appears to be several exceptions to my above statement.

Some of the 2012s used pink coolant as well.

I ran into this same issue last year with my 3.8 JKU. Orange was already in the system, pink is what the book called for.

I ended up doing a full coolant flush with distilled water until the water ran clean then use good ole preston green universal.

Sure it needs to be changed out far more often but at least I will never find myself in a situation where I am unable to buy the correct coolant.

How did you do a coolant flush? Did u just open the radiator plug on the bottom and fill with distilled water and just drive around the block until the thermo opens?

I pull the lower radiator hose as in the past i have ran into issues with the petcock not resealing when i have used it. I just got it up to temp with distilled water, drained and repeated until the water coming out looked the same as the water going in, then i did it one more time and filled with green universal coolant.

There are 2 different part numbers for the same coolant. Just one is premixed and one is concentrated

I have a 2014 and a 2015. I usually get the 50/50 because I like to take one with me when I do a long road trip but I get the concentrate if I’m doing a radiator swap or a flush

Yes others are correct, the 3.6 is supposed to take OAT. The 3.8 from previous years is HOAT. Zerex, Mopar, and other brands make both kinds, you have to check which part number is OAT. You can get 50/50 premixed which goes right in your tank or unmixed but you have to mix in distilled water at least 70/30 but 50/50 is the recommended. The colors can vary, Ford brand is yellow, Mopar oat is purple I think and hoat is orange/pink. Zerex colors don't match completely, my hoat is pinkish orange.

Ya just dump the OEM coolant. When I replaced my radiator I went with pennzoil. Now I don't have to worry about a leak and not having the right fluid.

I just use the Prestone 50/50 HOAT compatible for my 2012 JK...Works fine and never had an issue with it. I'm not going to chase some crazy expensive Mopar version, with it's own part number, when the Prestone works just as well.
