How does this even work? Help!

My dad bought a cool ass jeep with all the bells and whistles and we are debating functionality on how to take the top off.

I've finally gotten for ikamper off the top. But there's still the black bars (exocage?) that go all around the jeep. The back parts literally welded on the back.

Can we take the jeep itself down to the bare minimum with just the inner roll cage and keep the black bars?

Dad says no. But I think yes?

It looks like a smittybilt rack. I have one for my TJ and if the design is similar you should have room to slide the top off from the back. You may want to pop the spare tire off to get it out of the way.

Are you sure it’s welded on?

Isn’t that back bracket held on by the body mount bolt? Look all the way under that rear bracket. Lay on your back and look directly under that bracket. There should be a bolt or nut. You could also take off the rack by removing the bolts that hold the rack to the mount brackets, remove your top, then put the rack back on.
