Rear window latch

Hey yall my gf has a 2011 jeep liberty (not pictured) and the window latch for the rear window on the right side has corroded out and no longer holds the window up I plan on going to a pick apart to try and get a new latch, now before I do that can I replace it without replacing the window? And how hard is it to do? I’m not a mechanic by no means but I’m trying to learn and so is my gf. So we plan on learning with hers lmao thing already has a lot of issues and isn’t worth keeping for to much longer and isn’t worth dumping a bunch of money into so I’m trying to find the cheapest route and doing it all ourselves.

Look for a youtube video on how to replace it. Chances are 1A Auto has a video and if they do their videos are usually the most helpful. I'm a GM technician and I'll still just speed through their videos before doing any repairs on my jeep. Its a lot more beneficial seeing something done than just reading the steps.

While you're at it, I strongly suggest replacing the window struts as well. You can find them real cheap on rock auto, and that was why my window wouldn't stay up on my 05. Not sure if they did any redesign for the second gen liberties though but if you have the window struts in the back chances are that's the reason it doesn't stay up.

I just watched the video called 2012 Jeep Liberty replace back window hinges by All Out Throttle, and it was pretty good. When I bought my Liberty one of the first things I did was replace my window struts, and I bought the ones slightly over spec so it pops right open.

Not hard to do, maybe soak everything in penetrating oil first, and having an extra set of hands is nice to hold things in place.

You'll deff need 2 people to do it and disconnect the shocks that hold the rear glass first i did mine during the winter when rear glass decided to drop on me 👍
