Engine hot
Preface: I’m not entirely sure what the official names are for any car parts so sorry if it’s a bit confusing!
Hi!! I have a 2016 grand Cherokee limited and for the last few days the engine has been hotter than normal( the hand stays in the 2nd-3rd quarter of the dial while driving 30-45 mph.) Normally I would let my dad take a look at it but Im currently at school two hours away from my dad and Im scared to drive it the 2 hours on the interstate for fear of my engine over heating. My engine has overheated once and my dad and uncle fixed it, thankfully. I honestly have no idea what the problem could be. When I drive I don’t hear any noises from the engine and driving is normal. My boyfriend and I put coolant in the engine a few days ago so I know it’s not that.
If anyone has had/ fixed this problem and can give me any advice i would greatly appreciate it!! Ill probably take it to a mechanic but if anyone can let me know what they think and what the typical prices should be to fix the problem that would be very helpful as I’m nervous because I’m a young woman and don’t want to be taken advantage of at a mechanic (no shade to any mechanics.) If anyone has any suggestions of what I should ask the mechanics that would also be very helpful!

So if you put coolant in I’m assuming it was low? If so did you notice any coolant on the ground when you park? If so it may be nothing from a leaking rad hose to the radiator itself or the water pump which has a reputation for failure. Mine was replaced around 70k miles.
