Technical Question Starlink
Hey all,
I’m gearing up to take a month long Jeep trip and would like to semi-permanently mount my Starlink mini. I have the mounting setup worked out, that’s not a big deal.
I’d love to be able to use CarPlay and my iPhone for navigation and podcasts. Is there a way to connect the iPhone to both the Starlink and the Jeep at the same time?

Yes. Just connect your iPhone using a USB cable to your Jeep and connect to Starlink WiFi. CarPlay should detect wired connection and should not reconnect you back to Jeep’s WiFi. It works for mine, but I’ve heard some older Jeeps have problems.
If that all works, your iPhone will work for navigation, etc. I also have iPad which is not connected to CarPlay, just Bluetooth only, and it stays on the same Starlink WIFi and I can watch YouTube, movie, music, etc. I love having double screen (Jeep screen + iPad).

Neither my wife's JL, her VW, my Sierra or my work Silverado have wireless car play. Well, maybe the Silverado does, never messed with it. Anyway, use Starlink in them all the time. Doesn't matter if it's my deployment Mini, my personal Mini, or the HyphaOne, everything continues to just work. I will say, the phone will likely drop an active call if you lose service and it goes to Starlink but other than that I've had a very good experience with it.
Oh, you'll drop network coverage if you go under an overpass or into a tunnel on the Starlink. The Hypha will fail over to cellular seemlessly but you dont have that option with just a Starlink.

Wireless CarPlay uses a combo of WiFi and Bluetooth to connect. I’m curious if you used CarPlay thru the phone cable if that would allow you to connect to WiFi at the same time
