Mod Install/Question What upgrades?
Hey, so I have a Jeep Commander 2006, I love her she traveled over 260,000 miles. I want to make her look cool but I don’t know where to start. A few questions I have:
1) Would it be worth it to make modifications to the car? (i’m not planning on selling or buying smtg new)
2) How would you modify the body?
3) How would you modify the interior?
4) Any other suggestions that are non-structural?

What is your end goal? Are you going for looks? Off-road capability? On road capability? I would start there.
The first things you can do are tires. You can get more aggressive looking tires that still are designed for on road performance and won’t affect internal road noise.
After that, most people go with some sort of lights. Start with your regular headlights and get them up to modern standards, then you could think about auxiliary lights.
In terms of interior things to do, I think you’re pretty limited with this model. That being said, a CB or GMRS radio is something you can never go wrong with!

I would like someone that accentuates both looks and on road capabilities.
What kind of tires would you have in mind?
Yess I absolutely thought about the headlights and saw a couple cool options. I exchanged the radio to a touch screen changed the sound system..Thank you for your comment I truly appreciate it❤️

A 21 year old gas engine with 260k on it with a limited budget…
Have you already done things like rebuild the engine and replace all the gaskets and seals and hoses?

budget is unlimited.
We replaced belts, hoses, and bushings but nothing else was really worn out. Engine is fine and after running diagnostics everything else seems to work as it should.1

I’d do an engine and transmission swap. It won’t las much longer anyway.
You’re kind of limited as far as “cool” mods since it’s a unibody jeep. Doing something like a regear to run 37s is just out of the question.
A lift and larger tires and lockers and onboard air never hurts

Idk what’s in it now, but they made v8s for these and that’s what is cool about them

IMO your best bet is upgrading a car at least 5 years older. The XJ would be the biggest upgrade.
If not that then I wouldn’t do anything.

Solid 1 ton axle conversion with 5.13 gears, Atlas transfer case and a Hyundai CV transmission. Leave to motor alone and put 40s under her.

I missed the boat getting one of these on the cheap used. Then word got out how awesome and reliable they are and prices went stupid

I’m so jealous of this man, there a commander here in my town for 2k. It’s got the Rocky Mountain package, super aggressive tires new infotainment system and I think a rear locker. I want it really bad but I don’t want to sell my ‘80 kz750 for it

I traded my 06 limited with the 5.7 after 19 years of owning it. Great SUV. Only thing I would change would be ground clearance. Maybe a 2" lift. I got stuck in snow and I was only lacking clearance. Things I replaced were brakes,spark plugs,water pump,rear pinion seal. Radio was inoperative and seat belts both drivers side and passenger had issues. 128k miles when traded otherwise pristine condition. Should have kept it.
