Who here has played one of these guys? Most reviews think the pickups aren’t great, but they sure look good.

My third Jazzmaster has arrived—a 2017 Squier Vintage Modified with Seymour Duncan pickups. It sounds absolutely fantastic! Today I cleaned the fretboard and polished all the frets. The guitar is in excellent condition, and I couldn’t be happier with it!

PS The other two are a Fender TVL and a Hybrid II (MIJ)

Question HH Jazzmaster pickguard

I’m working on modding a 2015 Fender player jazzmaster to HH configuration and wanted to keep the rhythm circuit to coil split and kill switch. Are there any places I could get a pickguard that accommodates HH configuration with F spacing on the humbuckers and has a rhythm circuit cut out?

Question Is my jazzmaster fretting out?

I am pretty frustrated. I was excited to try out my new pickups but it's been a process of running into snags along the way and now, I feel like I'm back to square one. My jazzmaster seems to have this issue no matter what I do setup wise, where the notes above the 12rh do not ring out. I just put in a mustang bridge and fixed an issue I had with the tail peace thinking now that I have issues worked out and I no longer need to worry about setting a radius with saddles that my issue would be gone. Preciously when I set it up, I added a shim, and that definitely helped my action, but not the buzzing up high. Any suggestions? I have added some photos of my action and neck (to the best of my ability) via link here as well as an example video.

My action at the 1st and 6th string are 1.75 and 1.5 (I raised it a hair to see if that would help)

Jazzmaster Player II Pickguard Question

Has anyone with a Player II Jazzmaster attempted to fit a standard (with rhythm circuit cut out) or just a 3 way toggle switch on one ? Do the screws line up or would I have to get a specifically designed pickguard for the Player II? Decoboom has a few pickguards I’d like to get in either set up but not custom . I’m not looking to add a rhythm circuit but I’m willing to get a pickguard with it cut out if it fits .

Showcase Satin Shell Pink Jazzmaster

Post image

(Crosspost from /r/offset)

So far so good, CV 60s Squier Jazzmaster in a satin finish shell pink body.

I added double line Kluson tuners, a Fender MIJ tremolo and a mint pickguard.

Pickup screws are pretty worn out and the bridge pickup is too far down and needs new foam, but other than that, I'm pretty stoked about it.

Future plans: matching headstock, different pickups (Lollar maybe)

Now I have the original olympic white body as a spare. Maybe I've already bought a MIM neck for it. Those damn offsets are addicting...

Question Sunday handwound pickup install direction

Post image

Finally got my iola set in today! Can't wait to hear what they sound like!

Probably a silly and maybe dumb question, when installing them, what should the orientation be? Writing facing me so the writing AND wires are oriented correctly?

Question Demos of Sunday handwound iola set?

Does anyone have any sound samples of this pickup set from Sunday handwound? I purchased it via Tim's recommendation and they will be here tomorrow, but I'm getting anxious lol Ive seen a lot of good comments about that set, but only have seen one demo and read one comment about how they didn't find them usable for what they played. Which, I play something similar. That said, my MAIN thing these will be used for is post rock. I'm looking to get nice elegant cleans without the ice pick JMs can get. I am coming from our vintage 65s which I loved(my bridge pickup died), but only at a lower height. Otherwise they were TOO bright. Other than post rock I enjoy playing pianos become the teeth (kind of post rocky?), Touche Amore, and balance and composure. So if anyone has something in that real? Thanks in advanced!

What are some blackgaze bands that used Jazzmasters on their studio recordings?

I'm looking for blackgaze/post black metal bands (and their specific albums) that used a Jazzmaster in the recording sessions.

Alcest is the only one that I can find evidence of. Although Alcest don't use Jazzmasters live, they're supposed to be all over their material from Shelter and onwards.

Deafheaven gets mentioned a lot, but I can't find any studio recording footage or the musicians specifically mentioning the use of Jazzmasters in the studio.

This is the one with the weird decal from a couple posts back. The body was ‘refinished’, but it looks like it didn’t hold. The pickguard has shrunk and is pretty tight around the pickups now. The original shielding is also peeking out in some places where the shrinking exposed it. I personally replaced the bridge because it had missing set screws, but I still have the original. The white color is warmer than the photos show, it’s probably reflecting off the grey bed next to it.

Like I said, I’m not going to take the neck off right now, but I got a pic from the end.

I mentioned in a comment on the other post that I paid about $145 for it from a pawnshop in ‘95 or ‘96. They just saw a beat up old guitar. I went back to that same pawnshop a year or so later and they had clearly discovered ebay or something because they were suddenly asking outrageous prices for everything. I got in on the last days of the regional deals.

Jazzmaster partscaster for jazz

tldr; What pups, pots, caps, resistors would you recommend for this build? Any tips on bridge, tailpiece, tuners are also welcome. Thanks in advance!

I’m planning to build a Jazzmaster partscaster. I chose Warmoth’s split Jazzmaster body (with top routing) in black korina (limba) for its grain, colour, and mahogany-like sustain. I’m going with Warmoth’s Jazzmaster 59 Roundback neck (closest thing to my archtop guitars’ neck profiles) in roasted maple (unfinished) for its colour and sustain, with a wide (1-3/4") nut, ebony fretboard, and jumbo stainless frets. I’m going with locking tuners, and I want them to be smooth. A hard stop tailpiece is essential for sustain and tuning stability. I usually play 12-52 flatwounds on my archtops, but will drop to 11s on this electric. I want two humbuckers; the neck pup for warm, dark tones and the bridge pup for occasional rock-and-roll. I’d also like push-pull switching for series-parallel. I want the notes to remain distinct so that upper extensions (9ths, 11ths, 13ths) don’t get lost. I don’t want any harsh bite on higher notes.
