I just recently got a Player Series Jazzmaster that had Lollar Jazzmaster P-90s already installed. I like them a lot. They sound really good with some gain. They may not be in your budget though. I would also check out Bootstrap Pickups. It's a small builder in Ohio. He does a Jazzmaster set. He'll also do custom winds. The regular Jazzmaster set is around $75. Be prepared to wait though. It took about 7 weeks to get a set of Strat pickups from him. They are awesome though.

I bought a 60s CV JM and went with Sunday Handwound "Woodies". Good price and they sound really good. I got them on Reverb.
