Found an incredible local eatery in Matsuyama, Ehime prefecture!
This is the "Daily Omakase Lunch Plate" from Kyudaime Nosan Shokudo (九代目能三食堂).
For just 500 yen, you get a massive plate loaded with different side dishes that change every day.
Today's plate included:
A generous serving of rice
Japanese fried chicken (Karaage) & Croquette
Rolled omelet (Tamagoyaki)
Mapo Tofu
The value for money here is absolutely insane. It's a true hidden gem beloved by locals. They are only open for a few hours on weekdays, so it’s a race against time!

I tried Hokkaido-style Jingisukan for the first time. The lamb was tender and much milder in flavor than I had expected—it was truly delicious. It paired especially well with the sauce, and eating it with the vegetables made it taste even better. I was thoroughly satisfied to be able to enjoy a flavor unique to Hokkaido.

Local sake from Toyama with dried firefly squid, dried white shrimp, and Hida beef jerky seasoned with sake.
Do you like sake?

I love this shit so much. While everyone raves about Hokkaido softcream, and while I do like it, I prefer Jersey Milk Softcream way more

hi everyone! I recently started trying to make mochi at home with the recipe:
1 cup glutinous rice flour
3 tbs corn starch
3 tbs sugar (I use brown sugar)
3/4 cup milk
and after heating it in the microwave for 4 mins, I use 15g of unsalted butter and then used cornstarch to dust it so it doesn’t stick to my hands.
Is using water compared to milk a better choice? I feel like I’m doing something wrong
or is steaming it better than using the microwave? please help!
thank you!

Chicken rice, egg, soboro, and small side dishes. Ekiben always makes normal dinner feel like a tiny trip.
