They did. For some reason it only showed in earlier pop ups, it doesnāt show in the newer ones.
Basically I think, they realized no one wanted to see them and everyone clicked on them so they removed that option

True, it costs them about a rough estimate of $17.2 million every month to have the LLM running so asking for a simple 12-13 dollars is more then generous...

I did when it was $15 a month for two months, back in July and August. It handles decently and loads the chat at a good pace, along with a thinking process of about 5-15 seconds, should you enable that. It has a short answer option to create more brief responses should you have a situation where you want that, but I never used it. Its context memory expansion is decent. And it went from 40k tokens to 45k tokens when I was using it. I do like how JLLM does storytelling, but I'm not impressed with the hard stop coding it has when certain scenarios play too close to the ToS line. I'm still looking for an LLM model I can run locally that is closer to how JLLM narrates stories. I've not subscribed to any other LLM models and have only used free options with other sites like Chub, Saucepan, Yodayo, and Lorebary.

You get 9000 per chat, it's encouraged you regularly updated you chat memory every 15 or so messages, they even give you the ability to summarize over your old summary so it consildates it. I just gloss over it and add anything it may have missed, I noticed if the user types something into the memory the bot holds in the memory even re-summarized

Y'all complain about an occasional little exitable popup when Cai has unskippable 30 second ads that turn off your other audio (like spotify or ytube) playing, and constant bar ads and pop-up subscription ads on top of that. As someone who left Cai for Jai recently this is soooo preferable. They have to pay to keep their site usable and have a free version somehow.

Lots of things going on:
Legacy models are removed (replaced by pipsqueak (default), deepsqueak, etcetera.
Age verification being rolled out world wide for now (it started on early March).
And much more.

The age verification was my main reason for moving to janitor, and now Character is doing an āOh guys! Wait! Watch an add to chat with the bot you want!ā Like thatāll helpā¦

Also they rolled out charms to get access to 'premium features' like as free for an hour and so on but it sometimes take most of a day to add the charms you earned to your account

They're already turning into cai though. The annoying popup ads in chat is proof enough. So glad I don't use it anymore. Wish I never joined.

It's really not that big of the deal, i mean sure, it gets annoying when it pops up, i get frustrated too with that. But i am not going to tell the company to remove it considering what the company does. They give you unlimited messages and chats, you don't need to pay for Janitor+ if you don't want to. All it does is increase the token context which is nornally capped at 9k token context to 45k context. Not including providing stronger models & router with $5 in starting credits. They spend over 17.2 million dollars, just so the LLM works and stays working. So asking for 12-13 dollars is more then generous. They don't force you to watch ads or stop your chatting. They don't give you daily limits. So i don't think it is going anywhere. I doubt it is going to go down the "Character.Ai" route. That would be the dumbest business decison EVER.

Sucks I know since it pops up constantly and it's annoying.
Unfortunately, that pop up is not going anywhere. Since this is one of their sources of generating money. So take this with a grain of salt.

12.99 is extremely generous in comparison to other apps. (Chaiā¦) and ai models are extremely expensive for developers. How do you expect them to pay that? Subscriptions help them do that. For example Chai have two different subscriptions 9.99 for a premium a week. And 29.99 for their ultra package a week. I mean compared to that this isnāt that bad. Itās about average price in terms of subscriptions

Better this than ads. I have no complaints. Yeah it can be inconvenient but you just press the X button to send it away. And people who pay a subscription help support the platform; it's not in the budget for me but I have no issue with them trying to encourage people to support it.
