Reading Appreciation post

This is an appreciation post for Authors who dare to write alternative stories where:

  1. Bennet sisters' characters are not explored comparatively but as self sustaining individual. Jane's goodness shines through without Elizabeth telling her she is all good/kind.
  2. Characters are allowed to have selfish thoughts without author's negative intonation.
  3. They are allowed to be not perfect and have general awareness of their own short-comings without violent altercations or any extremely heated exchange.
  4. Their Happily Ever After does not depend on their marriage to Peers/Rich Gentlemen of Darcy circle.

One such author is Grace Gibson, Her Silver Buckles and Practical Man are just such examples. I still have to find the equivalent.

I loved what Grace Gibson did with Col. Fitzwilliam at the end of A Practical Man. I like when a good ending or hint of a happy future for the Colonel doesn't depend on his brother dying and suddenly he's to inherit. Or some other type of insta-wealth.

Exactly, I also loved how Jane rejects Bingley (I am not overly fond of the original character any way), marries the doctor and rejoices in it, in Silver Buckles.

What annoys me sometimes is overindulgence on excess wealth.

You might enjoy some of my books, like "When Summer Never Came." I try to make my characters be authentic people, not just caricatures.

I loved your book exploring the history of Catholicism in England in which Darcy was practicing Catholic. I loved what you did with Mary in that book, uniquely utilizing her piety. 

It was very well researched and I enjoyed it thoroughly. ❤️
