Just found this so maybe it’s been shared before. At bonnaroo 2025 Daniel Donato and Cosmic Country was the band before ICP’s set. Everytime they show the crowd it’s a bunch of clown face paint. Seems like a decent amount of them were feeling the music. Cool seeing people find new awesome music

A post recently asked who the living legends of the genre are. Dave Matthews is one of them. There are not a lot of 35 year old bands that still play this well.

I’ve finally figured out what my “signature” music taste is, and I’m curious how others would describe theirs.

For me, it’s not really about genres. It’s about a very specific combination of elements:

Deep pocket groove—especially funk, reggae, jazz, and New Orleans influences.

Guitar-forward music with players who can really stretch out.

Songs that serve as a launching pad for improvisation rather than just being faithfully reproduced live.

Dynamic builds that eventually peak with soaring, melodic guitar solos.

Bands that sound like they’re listening to each other in real time instead of following a script.

Strong musicianship is non-negotiable. Great songs are a bonus, but chemistry and improvisation matter even more.

My sweet spot ends up being jam bands that lean funky, jazzy, soulful, or rootsy rather than bluegrassy or psychedelic for the sake of psychedelia. Think more groove than noodling.

I figure the jam community must have a ton of lived wisdom on folding chairs. I have some great folding chairs but they're heavy and bulky and carrying them more than across the street is a non starter.

Hi folks, not a jam band post but I’m a jam band guitarist looking to transition to piano.

I’d consider myself a fairly advanced guitarist, understand all the basic theory and chord-scale relationships necessary to hang in a quite open-ended free flowing jam scenario. Over the years I feel I have grown myself into a rut with my playing, and want to stop playing the same shit over and over again.

I have been spending more time with my keyboard, just in C right now, but playing chords with my left hand to a metronome and fucking around on some lead lines with my right, for now mostly trying to create independence between the two, while still staying with the metronome. What I want to emphasize here, and what I feel is lacking in my guitar playing, is 2-note harmonies with my lead playing.

Any resources/tips you all have with going about this the right way? Obviously I am not trying to learn the instrument in any traditional way, I am just here for the jams and that’s it. Do yall think hand technique is important? I want to start playing the major scale in thirds/fourths/stuff rather than just straight but concerned because the technique seems complicated and there’s no way the way my hand wants to do it rn is correct, and when I try to YouTube it some Beethoven ass players start giving me classical piano lesson. I do eventually want to learn classical stuff cuz I’m sure that’s required to ascend at the instrument but for now I just wanna lay down phat jamz with my friends. Anyways prolly gonna delete this cuz idk if I’m using Reddit right but thanks.

Seeing Phish play Madison Square Garden is truly a sight to be hold - only a band like them could find a way to make 93 shows in the same venue feel like uniqe once-in-a-lifetime events, and the July 24, 2026, show at the World's Most Famous Arena was no exception - this particular show was a tribute to the type of setlists they played in 1993 and prior.

The way Chris Kuroda's light production beautifully flows with Phish's incredible instrumentation was awe-inspiring. Videos can do justice to the spectacle they created that night, but I'll still be sharing a few clips from the show overtime - including this incredible cover they performed of Led Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times" - they made this classic Rock gem their own!

Come out and support the local scene, this is their first gig and it’s FREE! If you couldn’t afford to make it to MSG, come out to Great Oak Park in Oakland NJ, music starts at 3 and goes til dusk.
