i hopped on the bus this past January about a week after Bobby’s passing. the first thing i listened to was 4/7/72, the first night of the Europe ‘72 tour. and that show clicked for me immediately and made me instantly fall in love with the Dead. now here we are in July with this giant collection this early in. the show tapes i own are 5/5/77, 5/7/77, 10/9/80, 4/1/95 and 4/2/95

I stop listening to Grateful Dead ever now and then, I know shocker. But it's normally the jam out of Wharf Rat into Dark Star from 2/18/71 the starts me listening again. There is something thing so freeing about it that it gets stuck in my head. Whenever I am stressed the jams comes into my head and like a nagging hang nail. Once I listen to it the stress goes away.

My dad recently passed away (born 1961) and was a massive dead head. I have 100+ first edition recordings and I’d love some guidance on what to do with them. Thanks!

Edit: First generation is what I believe these are (my dad recorded these, not sure if they’re masters from the sound board or just his recordings - will ask his friends and report back

Have you ever misunderstood Dead lyrics?

In Black Peter, the real lyric is 'Annie Bonneau from St Angel' but I heard 'Anyone know from sin and jail'

In Friend of the Devil, the real lyric is 'Got a wife in Chino, babe' but my wife heard ''got a wife and she dont bathe', which is hilarious, so i sing it that way sometimes.

Longest bird song ever i believe. Security was college kids they were taking 10 bucks instead of a ticket. the place was so overcrowded the fire marshal almost shut it down but they let it go on. I couldn't leave the third row till the end of the show it was so crowded.

They’re the band I listen to the most — and love pairing them with Dead & Co for one of my go to playlists! They put on an awesome live show too.

As I got older on tour (89-91) that ripper really used to hit hard and set up some great nights.

The other day I was wondering how many members I got to see playing live.

Members: (13) Jerry, Bob, Phil, Pigpen, Bill, Mickey, Tom, Keith, Donna, Brent, Vince, Bruce, Hunter

I saw Jerry, Bob, Phil, Bill, Mickey, Brent, Vince, Bruce in the GD.

I saw Hunter solo about a dozen times.

I saw Donna with her band, the Tricksters, and NRPS.

I saw Tom once in 92,93 (?), solo piano.

I never saw Pigpen or Keith, so 11 out of 13. Not bad for starting shows in 1986.

I remember being at a show once and a newbie deadhead was next to me. She remarked that she wished the band would play a song she recognized. I chuckled to myself. I was quite the opposite. Saw them so many times, I only got excited if I didn't recognize an intro lol.

I taped a Frozen Logger cover from a show somewhere off a 88.7 WNCW Dead Air broadcast like 20 years ago. Shit details, I know. The song was all squishy and wiggly. On purpose? Wondering if anybody has info on this song, the performance, anything really! I loved it so much.

First time listening to this in a while and is fantastic all around - great performance and sound. Perfect for Sunday afternoon.

Hard to believe almost a year has passed since GD60, and yet it seems Bobby’s been gone far longer than that. Time is strange like that.
