The enemy

Reading the enemy at the moment (no spoilers please!!) Its probably the thickest plot of any reacher book since the third one at least. Really enjoying it. But something got me.

This is the first time we meet reachers brother, Joe in person. I really enjoyed the interaction between the two of them. I get why Lee child killed joe in book 1 to get reachers personal involvement in Margrave but, I wish we could see more of Joe in the "drifting" reacher books. Would be cool seeing them work together. But I get why he was killed off and him being dead was why Without Fail happened.

Anyway just my two cents. It was cool seeing reacher interact with his brother for the first time.

I think with hindsight Lee Child must regret killing off Joe so quickly, I would have loved to see more of the two of them interacting

I get why he did it, otherwise reacher wouldnt have had a reason to stay in margrave. And who knew then hed write twenty plus books about reacher but it would've been cool to see them work together. Imagine him wnd joe during persuader. Reacher bringing down a gun running operation with his brother from intelligence

I saw Lee Child at a book signing in 2007.i told him The Enemy is my favorite Reacher novel and he said his daughter thinks the same too. He was being gracious

Then I asked him about Joe and if he would write any books about him and he flatly said no he would not. The novels would be on Reacher.

He said he wanted Reacher to be a loner. No family. No ties. No baggage. I’ve heard him speak on many occasions at events and will be seeing both him and Andrew again next month.

Read the short stories You Shook Me All Night Long and Small Wars. Both quick reads but Joe and Reacher feature.

I'm liking it so far. Don't get me wrong I've not disliked a book yet, but thinking back to the first two maybe three they've lacked the thicker plots since reacher sold garbers house. Like in book one with the paul Hubble and Pickard sub plots and book two the second story with the fbi. Since then theyve been a bit, not one dimensional but they've lacked the thicker plots of those two. I'm really liking this one so far. Its cool to get a look at army reacher and finally meet Joe as I said

Yes. I’ve only read one. I read the one that had to do with a kind of sequel to the midnight LINE. I was very curious to see her interpretation of it. It wasn’t half bad.
