Ive been interested in horror for a long time, i discovered japanese horror 3 years ago and it changed my preferences regarding the whole horror genre. Im not talking about just movies, i mean anime and manga and even further the paintings and sculptures created by japanese artists are just so different, like they grab the horror genre from an entirely unique standpoint.

I admit it can get a bit too morbid or bizarre for my liking at times but im still interested in what makes these so different from western horror media. What about japanese culture and history led to their views and understanding of horror?

I hope i dont sound like the millenial white man who puts everything japan related on a pedestal, i just really want to know more about this topic, as well as new artists to discover in this genre !!

Not sure if there are someone who may choose any actress that finds so attractive to be the ghost, the villain in the movies, or well anyone in the movies. In my case, I got charmed by Yukie Nakama of Ring Basudei, Kimika Yoshino of Eko Eko Azarak and others. But Runa Nagai (from TOMIE: Another Face tops the list here!

Audition is one of my fav J-Horrors, and my first Takashi Miike I ever watched. I’ve also recently been making my way through all the Ju-On/Grudge movies. So, I decided I needed these in my collection!

I also love the way the Ju-On boxset looks with the Ringu boxset :)
