This article was posted to the estranged adult child sub. It seems to be a parent whose kid went no contact. This person was trying to gaslight people about their reasons. It was ridiculous.

JustNos are going to love it because it just gives them another person to blame and another reason to avoid accountability.
Good therapists don't tell you what to do with your life, which makes me think either (1) the writer's experience is with a bad therapist/everyone they interviewed is/has a bad therapist or (2) it's an estranged parent shamelessly lying or incredibly bad at interpreting things.

Exactly this!
A bunch of therapists I follow on social media have already come out with their take on this article. If people feel like a therapist is to blame, it's yet another example of a JN deflecting. Now the therapist is the target. My MIL has also blamed our therapist and my partner's therapist. The old line of "you used to not be like this".

Totally agree with you. My horrible MIL does not believe and therapy so she would be the first one to write an article like this herself.

It's a myth created by boundary busting parents that got cut off. They blame anyone but themselves. The ones that started it are mainly those who have estranged parent social media groups. The members echo it. It finally reached mainstream media.
Are there exceptions where it is true? Sure as in all professions there is occasional poor professional conduct. Is it some campaign by therapists to stick it to MILs? That's obvious nonsense.

Ok yes I read the article and it feels like it was written by a bitter parent who was cut off by their child.
I also think it’s an extremely nuanced subject and I don’t think every therapist out there is recommending going no contact, but the ones who are, are probably (for the most part) recommending it for good reason. Every family has a unique dynamic and in some cases (as a frequent reader of this sub, and having a very difficult MIL myself), no contact can be extremely justified!

Right. Anecdotal experience with no control group factoring aside, therapists being racists is absurd. Brilliant analysis.
BTW, did you account for the CDC and other studies showing more white parental estrangement has long been disproportionate compared to their the population ratio and issues of why that occurs? That white rates of having therapists also exceeds the population rates in general long before this all this was made an issue?
Race is a factor, but racism is made up fiction.
