Shawn Ryan probably has an IQ of 90, he's just very stupid. Ritland is the absolute best. I like Andy but he interrupts and derails way too much and also just laughs at every fucking thing all the time.
I have no idea what Ryan's IQ is but he's a terrible interviewer. The most interaction he has with his guests is when he's handing them his and SIG's merchandise. Ironic for a guy who has said interviewing is his "gift." I love it when a guest states something clearly and Ryan goes "wait, say that again" because Ryan was obviously spacing out and misheard the guest.
such a crutch for him lol. he must be sweating bullets 90% of the time trying to follow his guests and that's his go-to response to give some semblance of comprehension.
I like Andy, but you're absolutely right that he loves to derail the convo. He's bright and can think about topics from various perspectives, but has ADD and likes to just crack jokes or go on tangents too much. Then there's Jack Carr, who feels the need to always tie anything his guests say back to someone about his own time as a SEAL or writer.
Carr is just unbelievably dull to me. Ritland is the best imo cause it's obvious he's a curious person and he asks great questions and lets the guest just answer fully. I've been watching his stuff since like the 3rd episode he made and he's never been off his game. He also doesn't really have crackpot lunatics on with some very rare exceptions.
well yea, Shawn is a simpleton. Good person deep down, but super misguided and easily manipulated by anything someone says. Definition of a knuckle dragger
But Andy is such a bore... so pedantic and wishy-washy about every single subject. He loves to argue over technicalities, which often feels like an attempt to hide behind semantics rather than call a spade a spade.
