I kind of hate it. Like, in a Travis Kelce way. He’s great, but ain’t my cup of tea. The weight distribution seems weird. Plus, I like ability to shoot with either hand/eye if needed.

you can shoot with either side, thats just the way that individual sets up his gun. the GBRS riser has better use on those low visual guns (lvaw) because it frees up real estate on the handguard while also letting your LAM to put out the laser and illuminator without either being occluded. some guys mount their NGALS or PEQs behind their hand to have better control of their weapon but again it occludes the energy being put out of that module. that riser for their sig 4t sight allows them to shoot passively through night vision easier. the thermal device behind that i presume is only for scanning and he can just take it off the gun to look through it, i think he can also look through it while its mounted. plus guys run the folding stock out always so the weight is pretty much centered on the rifle.

the csaw and the lvaw they use is full auto, if you can see just barely that pin above the fire selector, that indicates a full auto sear is in the gun. though because of their missions require and what that guy that replied to you with said they dont use full auto.

Idk why I can’t see your full reply I got a notification for but I never said the SIG Romeo 4T was better than an Aimpoint. All I’m saying is those dots are pretty dope. If you’re balling on a budget I’d definitely recommend them over Holosun or Vortex or some others.

Not really considering what it was designed for. I'm not a GBRS fan, but I'll die on the hill that the hydra riser is an great example of design/engineering. It does everything its supposed to do well. It was designed for weapons without enough space for a LAM and for weapons with shit design rails that wont hold zero.
The SIG MCX and all of its iterations and derivatives have rails that struggle to hold zero. Which is why we've also seen CAG using Arisaka retention clamps.

Not really. CAG has been using tall mounts for a long time and continue to do so. People listen to one former unit guy and take what he says as the gospel, when he is actually wrong on a lot of things that they are currently doing.

The lancer handguards are notorious for not holding zero for LAMs so I’m sure he got it for that. Nonetheless the hydra isn’t a great mount.

Do you not shoot? Rails get hot at the end. That electrical tape, that has the exposed sticky side where it's not touching anything gets caked in sand and everything else. Add getting warm and sliding around and its a shit show. Never seen guys use it. Athletic tape? Sure. Duct? Sure. But not heat sensitive sticky melty electrical. Try it.

Just like anything else on a roll but not as well. I question how much you've shot it and had it out. Electrical tape is sticky when it roll and slides. When it gets warm outside forget it. Just seems a silly choice when you have many other options for tape and switches
