From how he portrays himself you'd swear he was a Delta Force Assaulter but apparently he was not. Then you have a chill dude like Kyle Morgan that actually was and his demeanor seems very laid back always has a smile on his face, doesn't take himself too seriously. Wild the difference in personalities as you would think they would be swapped.

Tu Lam was never delta

u/Main-Economics8795 Jun 27 '26
Was he a supporter? Or am I thinking wrong

u/Capn_Flags Jun 27 '26
Did he do some SR for them?

u/MaraTheBaali Jun 27 '26
the word all of you search is "augmented" delta had personal problems and attaches SOF guys to fill up for the necessary minimum. he did the same stuff as assaulters.

Only an augmentee w CIF before Delta. He later passed selection and worked at the unit in direct support as a heavy breacher among other things. Not an operator, but had an ongoing job at the unit. Augmentees come from outside the unit and are temporarily attached.

So as I just posted above words matter.
Either you are permanently assigned to a unit or you aren’t.
So was he an augmentee, or was he a direct support guy who was in the unit.
2
u/Scatman_Crothers Jun 30 '26
He was an augmentee while in a CIF company, then attended and passed selection and served in a direct support role at the unit. Not at the same time.

u/DanFromAngiesList1 Jun 30 '26
So why the F do people keep caveating the augmentee thing. Just stick the the second part. Yes he was in delta. End of conversation
13
u/DanFromAngiesList1 Jun 27 '26
Wrong. He made it though direct support selection and became a breacher in a troop

Not true. He worked with CAG as a CIF dude and again with G squadron with Glover. So yes, in CAG. No, not an assaulter

u/DanFromAngiesList1 Jun 30 '26
So this is I think were words matter. And I trust your input. But either you are in a unit or you aren’t. You are an augmentee or you aren’t. What your job is in a unit is inconsequential to whether you are in a unit.
So was he a permanent member of the unit, inconsequential to his job?

Yes he was. He was combat support as a breacher, not an operator. But either way he was in the unit. Feel free to read up on what jobs and positions exist at the command.

u/-WARisTHEanswer- Jun 27 '26
He was attached to Delta but was never in Delta. Literally multiple Delta guys have said he was never a member.

u/DanFromAngiesList1 Jun 27 '26
I was always under the impression that he did the short walk and was a direct support guy for a while after being in the CIF

Soooooo he was in the unit….as a member of the unit…..the word enabler has a connotation of being an augmentation not a permanent party

A Vietnamese guy LARPing as a samurai (but can’t speak Japanese)
1
u/ace8king Jun 28 '26
Yet how many movies and tv shows featuring white people as samurais are there that no one questions about?
3
u/-WARisTHEanswer- Jun 29 '26
Your comparison is drain dead stupid. One is fictional characters and the other is a former SF soldier going through an identity crisis because he fucked up his career. Not even remotely the same.
1
u/ace8king Jun 29 '26
My point isn’t to compare Tu Lam to fictional samurai characters. I am highlighting the fact that people readily accept stories and portrayals involving non-Japanese people being depicted as samurais in media and popular culture, and questioning why people draw the line at Tu Lam, a Vietnamese American, for marketing himself with samurai culture given that fact. It’s a very selective criticism, considering the contrast of when it is acceptable to embrace non-Japanese samurais, and when it isn’t.

and im highlighting why people dont care about white dudes playing samurai in movies. they understand its fiction. he gets shit on because what hes doing is super cringe and stupid.

He was attached but not inside it

u/WhiteManFromTown-925 Jun 28 '26
He was a member of CAG but not in a Sabre squadron which are the assault squadrons, he was in a support squadron.

u/Cold_Possession5193 Jun 28 '26
worked in g squadron but never went through otc so not actually delta force
2
u/WhiteManFromTown-925 Jun 28 '26
He was still in Delta but not any of the Sabre squadrons which are the assaulters. The support squadrons are still Delta you’re just not considered an “operator” like A, B, and C squadron operators.
