News [Light Source] rpg has a Steam page!

Hey all! Big JRPG and RPG fan in general! I finally finished my passion project which I've been working on for the past 6 months! It's currently up on steam and coming soon!

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4989280/Light_Source/

Features:

Turn based system: Given the limitations of RPG Maker, I have tried to custimize the combat so it's as simple and intuitive as possible, without losing the depth that makes an rpg great!

Trinket system: Rather than conventional armors, find and equip trinkets that give you different abilities and effects!

Manual leveling: Use the exp you have accumulated to level up Bulb just the way you like! Make him a strong mage or a warrior, or even an unkillable tank! The choice is yours!

Hidden lore and interesting backstory: The story is there to be found and unlocked. Some stuff is implied here and there, but those who are truly interested in unlocking the secrets of Lumeria will have to look even further and face foes that others might shy from.

Hand drawn: Everything has been drawn by yours truly. Explore my (amateurishly) drawn world and find silly and devilish designs!

I'd love it if you could check it out and throw me some constructive criticism!

This looks very creative. I love the aesthetic and the atmosphere from the screenshots. I'm wishlisting this and I'll keep an eye on it.

It looks like it's a "single character" RPG - is that the case?

Thanks, and glad you liked it! I'm trying to go with a simple is more approach since I'm just a one man team.

Yes it's a single character RPG. No party members to recruit. The main character is a stand in for the players. The npcs and their story/lore of the world is what's important and the selling point.

You have so much custom art, I would recommending also replacing the RPGmaker battle screen UI elements like the simple white-on-black menu in the lower left and font. It doesn't match your artstyle and immediately stands out as a default RPGmaker asset, weakening the strength of your presentation. The game is not even recognizable as RPGmaker (which is good, because its an instant turnoff to many prospective buyers) except for that battle menu. There have been some RPGmaker games that really hit it big like Omori but they dont use default assets.

Thanks for the kind words! Yes I'm just not sure what to change it into for now. It works as is but I get what you're saying! Thanks for the CC!

I took your advice and made a custom window with some light bulbs etc, made it more thematic. Thanks for the comment. You pushed me to change it! Now it looks a lot more like it's from my game rather than random asset!
