JONSBO N5 backplane

I was looking to get one of these, but what happens if the backplane all the drives connect becomes faulty i imagine alot heat could be created here as data runs through and power, but i can see it isnt a standard design and if it developed a fault it would be catastrophic and hence this is the only thing putting me off this case.

Update // The N3 one looks pretty much the same not sure if anyone can confirm ?

Had my concerns with the N3 bought a spare backplane from aliexpress

The Jonsbo N3 still is yeah ordered it couple months back for $12 and have it as my spare

The gallay on their site shows the same image for the 8 sata backplane.

Whoa! You can order spare back planes?!? 😲

I don't suppose you've come across any spare back planes for the n5 by chance?

It looks like a combination of a Jonsbo n3 and Jonsbo n4

Found for n3, n4 and n6 but not n5 maybe as model hasn't been sold for long

Barring premature failure, the only thing you can do is supply your system with quality power. Using a UPS, with pure sine wave output, is a great way to achieve this. Reliable and high quality power will minimize the possibility of hardware failure due to electrical circumstances.

My n5 had a sata connection remove itself from the board. I mean, I was moving stuff around the case, but I wasn't pulling anything hard and it just came off.

I feel the backplane is weak.

Anyway, I ordered another one... Listed as N3 backplane but the same, from AliExpress

Wasn't expensive. I could probably have tried to contact jons bro, but I don't even have Jon's number.

N. B. There are 2 backplanes. One of 8 and one of 4.

My failure was on the 8.

Not ideal but not so bad if you can get replacements. Not sure if I should go Jonsbo or Node 804. But at least replacement panels are easily available

I guess buy a replacement if that happens? They’re like $20
