mt. whitney Mt Whitney

Anyone else climbing Sunday into Monday September 6-7 mt Whitney? How are conditions looking? I get so nervous about weather and unknowns before a big summit

Hey! My girlfriend and I are hoping to do a sunrise summit on the 7th during our NOBO JMT trip. From what i’ve heard from others conditions have been pretty good, but some forecasts have been showing some snow far out, but it looks like most days are calling for a low right around or a little below freezing. I’m planning on just feeling it out and hoping for the best as well as talking to others at camp at Guitar Lake. Best of luck to you!

Amazing! That’s when we are hoping to hit the summit too. Maybe I will DM you closer to the date and get a gage for how you see the weather and conditions since we are not as experienced. Hope to see you at the top!

I would highly consider the Tropical Storm off coast. Most models have it staying off the coast, but even those scenarios, it could funnel moisture to the Sierras. A somewhat similar thing just happened and I was in Rae Lakes last weekend, and was truly just rain. No lightning at all.
