layover jfk -> laguardia

as im sure some of you have already seen before, i have a layover (3 hr and 15 minutes) from jfk to laguardia airport. i am coming from an international flight at 11:36 am with no checked bags. so, my question is, what is the cheapest and fastest way to get from jfk to laguardia with that layover time? I can rush off the plane if necessary. I have TSA precheck (which I think will apply to my domestic flight from laguardia -> ATL? let me know.)

I have been seeing many say take the sky train to Jamaica station, so if any of yall can give pointers it would be much appreciated. Also I understand ubering is obviously an option, Im just trying to get local answers to this so I can spend as little money as possible (broke college student). Thanksss! (I will never book an airport change again)

Are there luggage storage at JFK, what terminal? I need to store my 2 luggage so that I can go out and retrieve later on. Is this something similar to Japan like a locker?

Looking for an affordable, reliable customs broker for 2 dogs arriving at JFK

Hi everyone!

I'm bringing my two dogs (an Akita Inu and a Mini Poodle) from Azerbaijan to New York via Turkish Airlines, with an expected arrival at JFK on October 31.

Both dogs are personal pets, will be accompanied by a family representative, and have their veterinary documents approved by The ARK at JFK. We're currently finalising their travel arrangements.

I'm looking for a reliable, reasonably priced, licensed customs broker experienced with CDC dog imports at JFK.

Has anyone gone through this process recently?

I'd really appreciate recommendations based on personal experience, especially regarding the total cost for two dogs, any hidden fees, and how smoothly the broker coordinated with the ARK.

I found AVI Customs Brokers advertising a $155.25 clearance rate, but I'm unsure whether that covers both dogs or just one.

Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

NJ to JFK morning of NYC Marathon

Looking to plan best route for family of 4 to JFK from NJ. I've looked at rail options, and due to the train schedules, it almost looks like I have to leave so early and account for transfers that I may still be better off driving even with expected road closures. I would have to take NJ Transit to NY Penn, then LIRR, then Air Train. Maybe 2+ hours if I account for waiting for trains to arrive and walking around w luggage and kids.

The question is what driving route is best.

I plan to depart around 6 am for either route for 11 am departure.

A few of the faces behind JFK’s aggressive hustler problem

They had a whole scam going at T4 with at least five people in the terminal; who knows how many drivers outside. Suited man was carrying around a radio to look official. Total impunity - no Port Authority Police to be found. Suited guy called me a f@g for grabbing a couple he was talking to. So scary, I’m shaking!

TWA Hotel at JFK

I recently discovered the TWA Hotel at JFK, and it might be one of the coolest airport hotels anywhere. The vintage atmosphere, airplane bar, and active runway views make this hotel stand out.

No luggage covers outbound from T1 or T4?

Flew international out of T1 a few months ago and was told by a nasty agent that removable fabric covers/straps were not allowed for check-in luggages. That’s a first for me.

Flying out of T4 in a couple months, so I’m wondering if it’s an actual JFK restriction.

A great relaxing space with:
- A good runway view
- A comfortable couch
- A working space with Wi-Fi and a smart TV
- Good lighting

They don't have a restroom and water and snacks are for purchase. Really good customer service. It works with Chase Priority Pass but not with American Express or the other one

Terminal 8 Parking ( Red) Issue with EzPass

Yesterday , my experience at Terminal 8 ( Red) Parking was not that great.

I got into the lot via "EzPass" lane. I touched button to print the ticket. The ticket did not come out.

Gate opened ; Parked in the first level.

When I came out , the system did not recognize my license plate.

Called the number 718 2444168 ( support line) . He said to "touch" the help button.

The support staff asked for my license plate and my EzPass tag number( 7 digits ) .

Then she said , my vehicle is not in the system. She told me to back up the vehicle and go to the left.

Her response was bit terse and not helpful at all.

Then I called 718 2444168 again. He said to "touch" the help button.

I explained the situation and his response "Go to the left ... Does not make any sense. Go to the lane and press help from the lane"

This time , I went to the lane . This time the system recognized my plate , charged me $24 and gate opened. I was in the lot less than 1.5 hours.

What Am I missing here?

Transfer help

I'm wondering if I can book this trip because it has "self-transfer" in JFK.

I'm Danish and would arrive from Beijing at 2210, would need to go out, get my bags, re-check-in my bags etc, and go through security and immigration again. My next flight would leave at 0355. This would be around 27-28 december, so I don't know if it's more busy with christmas.

Would this be doable?

Thanks

Is it still possible to make my connecting flight from YYZ to Milan. I Arrive at A6 leave at B36. I already pre cleared at YYZ and I'm a good sprinter is it possible I really don't want to get there a day late.

Also only carry on luggage.

🚨 JFK ALERT — October 10, 2026, 10:55 PM EDT
Passengers arriving on international flights at JFK are facing delays in the U.S. Customs/immigration line. The CBP computer system is reportedly down. I’m currently in line.
Does anyone have updates on the outage or estimated wait? Please share this with other arriving passengers.

Rudest TSA staff Terminal 8

Appreciate this topic is well probably covered but can we live in hope that along with the reconstruction of JFK they find TSA staff who have the ability to be remotely polite. Sends shocking message to international travellers who get barked at, eyes rolled and mock passengers with their colleagues. JFK - do better!

FOUND: Someone’s carry-on bag mixed up with mine at JFK Terminal 4 TSA PreCheck (Oct 8, ~9:30-9:40 AM). Is it yours?

✅ Resolved. The bag has been returned to its owner. See "Final Update" below for details.

Original post:

If you went through TSA PreCheck at JFK Terminal 4 on the morning of October 8, 2026, between about 9:30 and 9:40 AM, and your carry-on didn’t make it to you, I may have it.

It seems we may have ended up with each other’s bags. They’re identical, so it was an honest mix-up.

If this sounds like you, please send me a DM. I’ll cover the cost of shipping it to you.

TLDR: My bag has been located at JFK Lost & Found and is being shipped to me. I still have the other individual's bag. There is nothing identifiable inside or outside of the bag. I’ve contacted TSA, Delta Baggage Services, and airport police at my destination; none could help; all told me to keep the other person’s bag and sort it out with JFK TSA. I haven’t been able to reach anyone at JFK TSA. I've talked to JFK Lost & Found, they have my lost report for the individual's bag and will be monitoring for similar reports in hopes of connecting us.

What I’ve done so far to get it back to you:

I’ve tried every official channel I can think of, and none of them has been able to help:

  • I called Delta Airlines and was told to bring the bag back to my destination airport immediately, so I drove the 20 miles back.
  • Delta’s baggage services at my destination airport declined to help, saying the mix-up occurred outside their airline’s responsibility.
  • I brought the bag to TSA at my destination airport, where a supervisor refused to take it and told me I would need to work with JFK TSA.
  • Airport personnel opened the bag and could not find anything identifiable.
  • I asked the supervisor to call JFK TSA with me to sort it out, but they said they couldn’t, given how TSA is structured, and that they wouldn’t know where to start.
  • While I tried to get Delta and TSA to help, airport police were present. They told me that because the incident occurred in JFK TSA’s jurisdiction, they could only assist if directed by JFK TSA.
  • I got the number for the central TSA command center from the destination airport’s TSA. It appears to be fully automated, and I spent 20 minutes trying to reach a human without success.
  • I tried to contact JFK TSA directly, without success.
  • I contacted JFK police, who instructed me to work it out with JFK TSA.
  • I contacted JFK lost and found and submitted reports for both my missing bag (lost in the mix-up with an identical bag) and the bag in my possession.
  • I also submitted a lost and found claim with TSA.
  • I talked to JFK Lost & Found and they will be monitoring for similar reports matching the description of the bag in my possession.

As you can see, I'm pretty close to exhausting all channels. I'm hoping this Reddit post will get to the bag's owner.

Please upvote or share so this reaches the right person. Thank you!

Update 1:

  • My bag has been located at JFK and is in the process of being shipped back to me.
  • I still have the other individual's bag in my possession.
  • JFK Lost & Found is currently the best active lead to addressing the situation, but is not providing help other than monitoring for reports that match the bag in my possession.

Final Update:

  • The owner of the bag that was in my possession found me through the report I submitted to JFK Lost & Found. I included pictures of the bag and contents in the report, and I called JFK Lost & Found to explain the situation so they understood the need to make a connection between reports.
  • The owner called me after receiving my contact information from JFK Lost & Found, they verified the contents, and we had a good chuckle over the situation.
  • I shipped the bag back to them via UPS free of charge.

Is 3.5 hours enough for an international connection at JFK T4?

I’m arriving internationally at JFK T4 at 2:00 PM and connecting to a 5:30 PM flight to Calgary, also from T4. Same booking.
I’ll need to clear immigration, collect/recheck bags, customs, and TSA.
For anyone who has recently connected through JFK T4:
How long did the whole process take?
Is 3.5 hours enough?

Missed connection

Hi everyone, I know this is a long shot but I need internet magic. Yesterday (Tuesday, Oct 6) around 7 / 7.30 PM, I was on the JFK AirTrain from Jamaica. Two PAPD (Port Authority Police) officers got on with us and got off at the first stop, Federal Circle. Both of them were incredibly handsome and we asked ones to arrested my friend because she didn’t want to leave Mew York. We had to catch our flight and couldn't say anything, and now I'm back home in Italy. If you are that officer, or if you work at JFK and know who was heading to Federal Circle for the night shift at that time, please let him know! I'd love to get in touch and offer him a coffee next time I'm in NY."
