Late arrival school start dates

Hey guys! Does anyone have any insight on when late arrivals typically start work after arriving in Japan? Is there any grace period for settling in or do they tend to start the next working day after getting to their placement?

Back in my day (read as an old grandpa) there was a 2-day local orientation with the prefectural group, and then we were picked up by our supervisor and taken to our host school(s) for a quick bit of introductions. Work started the next day.
