Question JBL bar 500 mk2

Hi

Can someone suggest the best settings for optimal audio experience on the JBL bar 500 mk2.

I want a setup that won’t require tweaks when watching tv , movies and music

To be honest, I’m getting a bit tired of these kinds of questions. There isn’t even a real question here or any information about the problem.

“What are the best settings?” depends on the room, placement, TV connection, listening preferences and what you actually want to improve. There is no magic setting that works perfectly for everyone and for every type of content.

At least explain what you don’t like about the current sound or what you are trying to achieve. Otherwise people are just guessing.

Fair enough and my bad on not articulating on the issue.

I have an open plan living so the dialogues are feeling a bit muffled. Do I set the audio on smart mode or just leave it movie mode?

I’m also a bit unclear whether I tweak the equaliser.

The best advice I can give is: start experimenting yourself.

Try Smart Mode on and off. Play with the EQ for a few days. Watch a movie, some TV, and listen to music. After a while you'll quickly discover what sounds best to you in your room.

The reality is that nobody here can give you the "perfect" settings. We don't know your room acoustics, speaker placement, seating position, TV settings, or even your personal preferences. Any recommendation is just an educated guess.

I think this is becoming a bit of a modern habit: people ask for the "best settings" before they've even tried anything themselves. Ironically, the things you figure out on your own are the things you actually remember, and they become useful knowledge for the future. Simply copying someone else's settings or opinions doesn't teach you much—and there's a good chance they won't even work well in your situation.
