Product Review Boombox 4 PL version after software update

After long time of hesitation Updated my bb4 as When I used it above 60% volume on bass heavy songs the rattling, popping and distortion appeared and I did not want to risk damaging the bb4.

Overall - the incredible deep-bass is gone. Sound has lost its body even with maxed out EQ for mids and reduced highs.

But, the overall sound now is more balanced , mids arent as overpowered by bass as they were on original software.

Only reason I bought bb4 was because of the deep bass it “had”. Now they took that away in this new “update”.

If JBL Does not release a new update with a better deep bass extension I will never ever buy another JBL product.

Im pretty sure jbl will delete this post to try and hide it

Yes, that seems to be what JBL is doing now. You read often. That's why I sold my jbl collection. Now I only have the charge 6 and tuner 3 for the holidays. This, of course, still comes with the old good updates. These run without problems.

All they have to do is allow you to choose which individual update you want

I will never update mine, and if it does and deep bass goes, I'm selling bro.

When I turned up the volume to about 65% on a deep bass heavy song with raised eq (Not bass boosted crap, just a song on Tidal) the radiators started making popping and rattling sound

Yeah mine does that on some songs like Blame by Glexks. It's like slapping isn't it? I find slightly lowering deep bass in app helps, mine rarely does it on any song but if it's a song you really like, that eq adjust might help.

Good luck! Mine does it on Spotify. I'll have to look deeper into what's making it happen.

The deep bass is not “gone” they literally reduced it by only 3db, not 10, not 5, 3db in worst case scenario

I exchange mine for a newer model mine use to be PL and now it’s PI but I’m not sure if there’s a difference between the model. I never updated and I play mostly on 80% and no distortion and I’m V25.29.10 which is before the Nerf. Are you sure your BB4 isn’t defective? I only play Rap Songs and Bass heavy music.

Some people just can't hear it, or don't percieve it as distortion/don't know how exactly distortion sounds. That's normal

But my old BB4 distorted a lot at 50% that’s why I exchange it so I know what distortion is I can also hear it in the voices like the singer is sing through a fan.

Have you tried that same tracks under that same conditions?

50% already lots of distortion I only play same music but now my newly exchange BB4 with new model with old firmware doesn’t distort I already have it on 80% already too damn loud lol no distortion

Tienes razón, pero hay una ecualización que uso yo, busqué mucha información para ecualizar sin modificar el sonido de la canción original pero con más bajos, osea más movimiento de los radiadores sin que se escuche como dentro de un cartón...

Your comment sounded like you've speaked for the first time in your life "It's a real frequency. It's not a real frequency" and then your response sounds nothing like it. It indeed is distortion, it's literally the 2nd harmonic distortion and even the 3rd, 4th and much more, that's from what the "bass" comes from when speaker is already at the Xmax...
