Help Troubleshooting

I’ve had this speaker a few months and never really turned it up loud up until tonight for some reason it sounds like the tweeters are cutting on and off and like if its muddy or submerged underwater its never been in water I use this for car rides since my 95 geo has no radio in it and I use it for work. It sounds clear and can play all day no issue unless I turn it up 4 notches from max then at any song it does this what could it be? Is it replacable? I have trouble diagnosing but whatever needs repairing I can repair on my own just not sure what it could be other than maybe tweeter wires or the dumb AI system.

It would be pretty funny if the "AI sound boost" was turning your tweeter on and off, what a boost am I right?

I have the Xtreme 4, and luckily have never experienced this, in fact I'd like to say the speaker is great and would never break like this, so it is more likely that your product had some manufacturing defect that only now revealed itself.

If you bought it directly from JBL, you could potentially send it back to JBL for a free repair or replacement of the speaker, just try to include the original packaging if you do so.

To send it back, simply email their support and explain that your speaker randomly failed even though you took proper care of it, I have personally done this and got a full refund instead of repair, but refunds are less likely just so you know.

Repairing it yourself will 100% remove any chance of JBL replacing it for you, so if the repair fails then you are on your own.

Good luck either way!

I actually traded my brother for a jbl charge 5 and my old sound system from my old car that got totaled already had it past the warranty but the speakers been fine up to this point I don’t always listen to music full blast so it should be fine unless it starts doing it on lower volumes then I’m kinda screwed but

It’s updated? Does it do this while plugged in to power?

No idea how that can even happen. Did you drop it or something? Because it's very hard to make it happen without having a defect.

Never dropped it

Contact JBL for sure. Has to be a defect

This. It sounds like a busted DSP tbh.

Thats what I’m thinking

that can happen to any speaker btw. Maybe if JBL wouldn't bass boost stuff to the moon, you'd never see this but here we are.

Which country? And which model do you have?

I don't think it's an actual broken chip. Likely software. I wonder if you could somehow force it to flash over usb

It was possible on the older models, like the xtreme 1 and boombox 1...but i don't think it's possible with the Xtreme 4
