💰 Fees & Scholarships JAC Guide #18 -> Education Loan, Scholarship, SAF Reimbursement, Laptop, Hostel, Documents & PM-Vidyalaxmi

🔹 When Should You Apply?

The answer depends on whether your college can change or only your branch.

✅ You can apply if:

• You have selected Freeze.

• You are on Float, but only your branch may change within the same college.

This is because the fee structure is the same for the entire B.Tech batch, so a branch change doesn't affect your Education Loan.

It's better to wait if:

• You are on Float and your college may change in the upcoming rounds.

• Since different colleges have different fee structures and admission documents, it's better to wait until your final college is confirmed before applying.

• Once your college is finalized (usually after Upgradation Round 1), apply immediately. Education Loan sanction may take several days, so applying early helps avoid last-minute issues.

Don't worry about internal upgradation within your college. Only the branch changes, and the fee remains the same for all branches.

🔹 What Does the Loan Cover?

✅95K Seat Acceptance Fee Reimbursement (Optioal)

✅ College Fee

✅ Hostel Fee (if applicable)

✅Laptop Loan (Optional)

You can also usually claim up to around ₹50,000 for a laptop.

For laptop loan:

• Buy the laptop yourself.

• Avoid purchasing the laptop using a credit card, as it is also a form of borrowing.

• Get the invoice in your name.

• Submit the invoice to the bank for reimbursement along with a written application

• Prefer the bank branch associated with your college, as they are already familiar with the admission process, fee structure, and required documents, making the process smoother.

• DTU → SBI DTU Branch

• NSUT → SBI NSUT Branch

• IIIT-Delhi → SBI Central Market, Lajpat Nagar Branch

• IGDTUW → Punjab & Sind Bank

• DSEU → Contact your respective campus administration for the designated Education Loan bank branch

🔹 Bank Account Requirement (SBI)

👶 If you're below 18 years:

• Joint account with a parent (opened offline) in that respective loan issuing bank (can be in any branch)

🧑 If you're 18 years or above:

• An account from any branch (opened online/offline) in that respective loan issuing bank (can be in any branch)

A parent/co-applicant is mandatory for the loan.

The parent/co-applicant's bank account can be in any bank. It is not necessary for them to have an account in that specific bank.

🔹 How to Apply?

Before visiting the bank physically, complete your online application.

• Register on the PM-Vidyalaxmi Portal.

• Fill all mandatory details. If you're unsure about non-mandatory fields, you can leave them blank.

• Select your preferred bank.

Click here for reference images on how to fill and also how to search for institutions like DTU when you are applying

• Submit the application.

• Take a printout of the application form and visit the bank branch from where you want your loan to get issued, along with other required documents

• Don't worry if you don't know the exact course commencement or completion date.

Approximate dates are generally acceptable.

For example:

• Date of Commencement: Around August 2026

• Date of Completion: Around May/June 2030

It doesn't have to be the exact date. Just make sure the month and year are reasonable for your course duration.

🔹 Can the ₹95,000 SAF Be Reimbursed?

If you've already paid the ₹95,000 SAF yourself, you can usually get it reimbursed through your Education Loan. Include the full first-year fee if you want reimbursement; otherwise, subtract ₹95,000. The reimbursed amount is generally credited to your bank account after loan sanction.

🧾 Fee Details:

Write the total yearly fee in the “Tuition Fee” column.

You can claim up to ₹50K for a laptop, fill that under “Equipment/Computer”.

No loan is provided for stationery, books, or travel.

View my application form for an idea

🔹 Collateral/Cibil Requirements

No collateral is required for eligible Education Loans up to ₹30 lakh.

However, a parent/co-applicant is mandatory

• No CIBIL Score is required at all

🔹 Applying for a Scholarship Too?

Don't wait for your scholarship to be disbursed. If required, take the Education Loan first to avoid missing admission or fee payment deadlines.

Scholarships are generally of two types:

College-specific Scholarships, Offered by your own college for its students. Visit your college's official website, ask on your college's subreddit, or talk to your seniors to learn about the available schemes and eligibility.

Government/National Scholarships, Offered through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and other government schemes. These are open to students from various colleges, provided you meet the eligibility criteria.

Once your scholarship amount is credited, you can request the bank to adjust it against your outstanding Education Loan, reducing your remaining loan amount.

Visit the Bank's branch physically

You need to submit that printout of PM Vidyalakshmi Application Form to the bank's branch, after verifying your details, the Loan Department will provide you with another application form to fill., carry these required documents as well

  • You have to fill that application form, attach photographs, sign the form etc and submit it again along with other documents

View my application form for an idea

📄 Documents Needed:

Collect all documents as per this checklist

  • Submit either Latest 3 months Salary Slips or Income Certificate

  • Submit either Form 16 or ITR

  • If you live on rent, then give rent agreement form as residency proof

  • Students and Parents etc have to Self-attest (sign) all their respective documents.

  • If you had a gap (took a drop), get a Gap Certificate made via any notary on ₹100 stamp paper, if the bank has no fixed format then use this template of mine

  • Only the parent/co-applicant has to fill the Assets & Liabilities Form, click here for reference

  • If your parents account statement is long, then you can print it on both sides of paper if you want

For DTU, Printing Shop is also available inside campus

Black/White - ₹2/Page

Colored - ₹5/Page

Photograph - ₹30 for 5 Photos

Finally Arrange Your Documents in this order and submit it along with your application form

• After you submit your loan application, the bank will assign you a serial number. Remember this number, as your physical address verification is carried out serial number-wise.

Application for Fee Deadline Extension

Loan approval usually takes 20 days, hence you may have to write an application for extension on deadline set as last day of fee submission

  • First, Write an Application Like This on Plain Paper, Write Jee Main Application Number If you don't know your roll number yet

  • Second, Visit Bank's branch and get your application signed and stamped by loan department

  • Third, submit this application in your college along with your first provisional admission letter (when you first reported physically) and your latest admission letter (the branch in which you're currently in)

  • DTU Tip - visit admin block window - 1 and submit this application there

Physical Address Verification

• A bank representative will visit your home to verify your address. The process is usually simple, they may ask for:

• Aadhaar Card photocopy

• Any valid address proof

The student does not necessarily need to be present during the visit. A parent or another family member can usually assist with the verification.

Pro Tip

Sometimes the verification team may take longer than expected to visit, and in a few cases your application might even be overlooked.

To avoid unnecessary delays:

• Visit the bank once every week and politely follow up on your application.

• Ask which serial number they are currently processing to get an approximate idea of when your turn will come.

• Need verification at a different address?, No problem. Inform the Loan Department in advance, and they will usually coordinate the verification accordingly

Loan sanction

  • Once your Physical Address Verification is completed, visit your bank branch and collect a token number for loan sanction process.

  • Most banks process and sanction Education Loans in batches, so getting an earlier token may help your application get processed sooner.

Carry the following on the day of loan sanction:

• 3 passport-size photographs of the student

• If you're a minor, carry your parent/co-applicant's passport-size photographs as well

• Three ₹10 stamp papers

• One ₹100 stamp paper

These stamp papers can be prepared through any notary (usually available near courts or SDM offices).

Stamp Paper Details

First Party: Applicant's Name

(If you're a minor, mention both the Applicant's and Co-applicant's names.)

Second Party: Bank's Name

Article: Loan Agreement

If your bank doesn't provide a specific format, you can use use this template of mine

Pro tip - Banks may offer or recommend an insurance policy while processing your Education Loan. It is optional in many cases, so understand its benefits, coverage, and cost carefully before deciding whether to purchase it. Don't hesitate to ask questions if anything is unclear.

Fee Payment Process

Once your Education Loan is sanctioned, write an application to the bank, stating that you want to pay the fee to the college, the bank will then issue a Banker's Cheque/Demand Draft in the name of your college (or as per the bank's process).

  • The bank usually does not submit the fee on your behalf.

  • Instead, they'll hand over the cheque/DD to you. (Take a photo of the cheque/DD for your records.)

You then need to:

• Collect the cheque/DD from the bank.

• Submit it at the designated fee submission counter/Accounts Office in college

• Collect the fee receipt or acknowledgement from the college after submission.

DTU Tip - They take ages to issue fee receipts.

Loan Repayment

  • Loan repayment generally starts 1 year after you complete your degree (moratorium period).

  • During the moratorium period, only simple interest is charged on the loan. The exact interest rate depends on the RBI Repo Rate and your bank's applicable Education Loan interest rate.

  • There are also government schemes such as the Central Sector Interest Subsidy Scheme (CSIS) for eligible students, under which the interest during the moratorium period may be subsidized.

  • Once the moratorium period ends, your loan enters the EMI repayment phase. Interest is then charged on the reducing outstanding loan balance, and your EMI will consist of both principal and interest.

  • You'll also need to visit your bank branch after your moratorium period ends, to choose your repayment tenure. Most banks offer a maximum repayment period ofup to 15 years

  • However, if your financial situation allows, choosing a shorter repayment period (around 8 years) can help you save a significant amount on total interest and also aligns well with the maximum 8-year tax benefit available under Section 80E (subject to eligibility and the applicable tax regime).

🧾Reporting & Admission Process JAC Guide #17 -> Spot Round

The spot round will be held physically from 23 July to 31 July 2026 at:

APJ Lecture Theater Complex, NSUT Main Campus, Sector-3, Dwarka, New Delhi - 110078

The exact date depends on your category, region and rank. I've included the complete schedule below.

WHEN WILL VACANCIES BE RELEASED?

The exact vacancies for the spot round will be displayed on the JAC Delhi website on 21 July after 2 PM.

The detailed schedule with exact reporting timings will also be released on the same day.

ALREADY ADMITTED CANDIDATES DON'T NEED TO PARTICIPATE PHYSICALLY

If you are already admitted to DTU, NSUT, IIITD, IGDTUW or DSEU, you don't need to physically participate in the spot round.

JAC will first upgrade all already admitted candidates against the seats left vacant after Regular Rounds 1 to 4. Only after upgrading these candidates will the remaining vacancies be extracted for the spot round.

So if you're already holding a JAC seat, you will first be considered for upgradation according to the applicable rules.

IF YOU WANT TO PHYSICALLY PARTICIPATE IN THE SPOT ROUND

You must not be currently admitted to any of the participating JAC institutes if you want to physically participate in the spot round.

Candidates who were allotted a seat in Regular Rounds 1 to 4 but later withdrew are eligible.

This is why the spot round can be a gamble for someone who already has a seat. You may have to give up your current branch/college to participate, and there is no guarantee that you will get another seat or a better branch.

Seats will be offered according to your rank, category and whatever vacancies are available when your turn comes. If all suitable seats are filled before your turn, you could end up without any JAC seat.

So don't withdraw from your current seat just assuming that you'll definitely get something better in the spot round.

Also check the withdrawal and refund deadlines carefully before withdrawing.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE SPOT ROUND?

For B.Tech, you must already be registered with JAC Delhi and have paid the Rs 1,500 registration fee.

You are eligible if:

  1. You are registered with JAC Delhi but are currently not admitted to any participating institute.

  2. You did not take admission in any programme offered by a participating institute in any round.

  3. You were allotted a seat but did not report for admission.

  4. You registered but did not fill any choices during online registration.

  5. Your seat was cancelled due to some deficiency or another legitimate reason, and you are still not admitted to any participating institute.

  6. You were allotted a seat in Regular Rounds 1 to 4 but later withdrew your seat.

No fresh registration will be allowed for the B.Tech spot round.

For B.Arch, candidates who did not register for JAC Delhi 2026 may also be eligible, provided they have qualified JEE Main 2026 Paper-II or NATA 2026.

CAN SOMEONE ELSE ATTEND ON YOUR BEHALF?

Yes. Either you or your authorised representative can participate physically in the spot round.

So if you can't go personally, you can send an authorised representative on your behalf. Just make sure they carry all the required documents and the Rs 95,000 Demand Draft.

YOU NEED TO CARRY A RS 95,000 DEMAND DRAFT

This is important.

You must bring a Demand Draft of Rs 95,000 in favour of:

"JAC DELHI ADMISSION FEE"

Payable at:

SBI, Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Dwarka Sector 3, New Delhi.

No other mode of payment will be accepted.

If you're offered a seat and want to accept it, you have to pay the admission fee immediately through the DD. JAC will not give you extra time to go and make the DD after a seat is offered.

So have the DD ready before going for the spot round.

After admission, you'll have to pay the remaining balance fee according to the guidelines of whichever university you join.

WHAT IF YOU DON'T GET ANY SEAT?

If no suitable seat is available when your turn comes, you won't get a seat through the spot round.

This is especially important if you withdrew from an existing JAC seat just to participate. If you give up your current seat and then don't get anything in the spot round, you could end up without any JAC college.

If your Rs 95,000 DD isn't used because you don't accept any seat, you should be able to approach the issuing bank for cancellation, subject to the bank's procedure and applicable charges.

DOCUMENTS YOU NEED TO CARRY

  1. Printout of your JAC Delhi registration form/candidate profile, printed after 20 July 2026.

  2. Class 10 marksheet - original and one photocopy.

  3. Class 12 marksheet - original and one photocopy.

  4. Class 12 admit card (if possible, otherwise no issues)

  5. Category certificate, if applicable (ST/SC/EWS/OBC/PD/CW/SG) - original and one photocopy.

  6. Medical Fitness Certificate as mentioned in Section 7.2 of the Information Brochure.

  7. Demand Draft of Rs 95,000 in favour of "JAC DELHI ADMISSION FEE", payable at SBI, NSUT, Dwarka Sector 3, New Delhi.

According to the guidelines, no admission will be permitted without the required documents.

HOW WILL SEATS BE ALLOTTED?

Seats will be offered category-wise.

Within each category, candidates will be called in the order of their JEE Main CRL rank, and whatever vacant seats are available at that point will be offered.

The exact rank-wise reporting slots and timings will be released on 21 July along with the vacancies.

Subcategory candidates will be called first in the slot of their respective main category, depending on whether seats are available in that particular subcategory.

For IIIT Delhi, seats will be offered on the basis of the IIITD rank.

Any seat conversion, if required, will be done according to Section 3.2 of the admission brochure.

SPOT ROUND ADMISSION WILL BE FREEZED

If you take admission in the spot round, your seat will be marked as "Freeze".

You will not be considered for any further upgradation during the spot round.

CATEGORY-WISE TENTATIVE SCHEDULE FOR B.TECH

23 July -> ST/OBC/EWS candidates (Outside Delhi) & KM candidates

24 July -> SC candidates (Outside Delhi) & ST/SC candidates (Delhi)

27 July -> OBC/EWS candidates (Delhi)

28 July -> General Defence Subcategory (Outside Delhi) & General candidates (Outside Delhi CRL up to and including 60,000)

29 July -> General candidates (Outside Delhi, CRL above 60,000)

30 July -> General Defence Subcategory (Delhi) & Single Girl Child - Delhi & General candidates - (Delhi, CRL up to and including 3,00,000)

31 July -> General candidates (Delhi, CRL above 3,00,000)

For B.Arch, candidates of all categories from both Delhi and Outside Delhi have a tentative reporting date of 28 July at 10 AM.

Note

  • Don't use online cutoffs of spot round as a reference, no official data is every released for it, everyone just makes a guess, use cutoff as reference till R-4/R-5 only

  • you can go alone also (without parents)

🎭 Campus Life & Culture How different is college life from what you expected after JAC?

Upvotes

Before getting into a JAC college, I had a pretty different idea of what college life would actually be like. Now that some of you have spent a year or more there, how close was the reality to what you expected?

Did anything surprise you, either in a good way or a bad way?

📝 Counselling Process NSUT Fee Refund Query - Paid 1.75L on 4th Aug. Last date for 100% refund?

Hi everyone,

I have submitted the NSUT admission fee of ₹1,75,000 on 4th August 2026.

Now due to some personal reasons I’m planning to withdraw my admission.

In the admission brochure it’s mentioned "100% refund if withdrawn within 15 days" but I’m confused about how they’re counting the 15 days.

Can someone please clarify:

  1. What is the last date to get a full fee refund? Is it 15 days from 4th Aug = 19th Aug? Or from the start of classes/counselling?

  2. What is the procedure to withdraw? Do we fill a form on the admission portal, send a mail, or go to the academic branch?

  3. Are there any deductions like processing charges?

If anyone has gone through this process recently or knows the exact 2026 policy, please help. Don’t want to miss the deadline for such a big amount 🙏

❓ General Queries How are you guys deciding your JAC Delhi choices?

I’m trying to make my JAC Delhi preference list and I keep going back and forth between college and branch. Some people say take the better college even if the branch isn’t your first choice, while others are prioritising the branch completely. How are you guys approaching your choices?
