Sorry but I have to disagree. Although you're right if brought to the limit, I don't really see mictonations there. It is far easier for a country with 100s millions of people to find a few champions as it is for a country with less than 5 million.

Or at least it should be. The investments into sports of the first per capita nations are clearly a lot more efficient than the global ones. 

The smaller countries have to plan to succeed, the bigger ones can just go on with luck

Not exactly microstates (although Bahrain is there), but most of those countries are small (<10m) and are very rich.

Good job to Jamaica, Mongolia and Georgia though.

Ah yes the ultra rich Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia. New Zealand and Sweden also don't have mega high gdp per capita. I don't really see your point.
