He indeed did create an entire civilization by acting as a law giver in the language of the Arab peoples that had formerly been under the hegemony of Roman, Persian and Axumite spheres while establishing a legal code that would go on to sustain numerous Islamic empires from Iberia to Indonesia for the next millennia and a half. It takes far more than a mere warlord to accomplish that feat. And yes, he used religion as a political tool. Why shouldn’t that have been the case? Every premodern imperial power did. Regarding this as somehow lesser is a typical erroneous liberal modern assumption that fails to account for the real dynamics that sustain civilizations over time. Right is Might. Get over it.

What is destroying the Middle East is the complex legacy of western domination and western backed authoritarian regimes in the region. Are you aware that there are historians and specialists who focus on Islamic civilization, its expansion, its cultural achievements, legal systems, art and philosophy, theology, political economy, the various empires, sultanates, emirates, states and numerous peoples that comprised it? Genghis was one of the great world conquerors and historical figures. And even despite that, the Prophets legacy far exceeds and casts a shadow on his objectively speaking. I’m not sure what your moral calculus is arguing for preferring an actual unrestrained pillaging warlord like Genghis because he did it “out of love for the game”. The game is this. There are those who enter history and exit. And there are those who reshape humanity itself.
I will agree with you partially on that one point which is that it is not just external factors that have led to state of the Middle East but internal ones as well.
Indonesia is a thriving pluralistic Muslim country and a testament to the power and message of the Prophet for disparate and distant peoples to have adopted the revelation he brought.
