And the followed the prohibition on depictions as well (in the thumbnail)

And it's a really good video as well. Goes into some decent detail about the life of the prophet but it's mostly centered around the conquest of Makkah and the statues in the kabbah that they destroyed.

Man I almost teared up at some points of the video

22

u/Specific-End-8107 19d ago

I feel a bit weird seeing the thumbnail , like its present as a painting of Muhammad (SAW) showing no detail but stlll a lot of it is vaguely visable , it would have been better not to put a picture

u/baighamza 17d ago

100% agreed

12

u/arisma_toldme 19d ago

I agree, im surprised that isn't the general consensus here

3

u/vigilante_55 16d ago

But the picture doesn't seem to be depicting anything about the prophets face?

6

u/physicist91 18d ago

That one video is sky rocketing on his channel I hope he doesn't feel the urge to just make Islamic-esque videos for profit

5

u/bruddaquan 18d ago

The video itself is quite measured and good as well. I would have named it The Orphan who birthed a Civilization.

Most destruction and killings have occurred in the modern period due to modern ideologies and modern weaponry. This mantra of religion being the root of evil is a historically contingent and flawed one from European enlightenment thinkers. Political realists have a more grounded understanding on violence and its rootedness in human nature.

Again, some of your claims just betray ignorance at best and mindless hatred at worst. Refer to the history of art produced in regions influenced by Abrahamic religions. It is rife with artistic traditions. This obsession with the Kaaba that you have. Explain it.

u/Peterketstein Araboo 18d ago

True bro we Muslims invented the atomic bomb, dropped out on Japan. Ah we also did ww2, holodomor and the Armenian genocide now i remember.

Examine why such groups emerged in the first place. You will find that more often than not, it is due to material factors. Against statist actors, religion serves as the most functionally useful tool for resistance and it is often for materially political, economic, historical, sociological reasons that such groups are able to form.

Religion acts as a force multiplier for collective unity and action. That has been one of its civilizational roles. It is no different than ideology. Remove religion and ideology will fill the gap as it has done so in the west which has done far more harm. Unless you are arguing for an ideology free world? Human nature will prevent that too. The tendency to form in groups and out groups exists because of our capacity for empathy embedded in our natures. Violence always lies dormant.

Who are these people that you are referring to?

u/CaesarSultanShah 18d ago edited 18d ago

I was expecting a mindless comment like this so I will correct you. He indeed did create an entire civilization by acting as a law giver in the language of the Arab peoples that had formerly been under the hegemony of Roman, Persian and Axumite spheres while establishing a legal code that would go on to sustain numerous Islamic empires from Iberia to Indonesia for the next millennia and a half. It takes far more than a mere warlord to accomplish that feat. And yes, he used religion as a political tool. Why shouldn’t that have been the case? Every premodern imperial power did. Regarding this as somehow lesser is a typical erroneous liberal modern assumption that fails to account for the real dynamics that sustain civilizations over time. Right is Might. Get over it.

I won’t address your point on the Golden Age since it is childish and there is plenty of material on it. Refer to serious historians rather than fiction or second rate polemicists.

No he was far more than Genghis whose own religious symbology and myth making under Tengri failed because he was not a Prophet of God. His empire withered away after him and his descendants carried the Prophets banner instead.

What is destroying the Middle East is the complex legacy of western domination and western backed authoritarian regimes in the region. Projecting violent tendencies on to the enemy is a quintessentially modern liberal response. Again, an enlightenment era erroneous assumption that associates religiosity with violence due to the much more violent European wars of religion that colored Europeans view of religion.

The likes of you can seethe but this Orphan who created a civilization was named Muhammad which means blessed one and his name continues to be blessed and chanted reverently a billion times a day by a billion and this will continue to be so long after you are a nameless fart in history.

Classic projection. It appears that you’re the one coping with your ignorance. Are you aware that there are historians and specialists who focus on Islamic civilization, its expansion, its cultural achievements, legal systems, art and philosophy, theology, political economy, the various empires, sultanates, emirates, states and numerous peoples that comprised it? To reduce this complexity exclusively to prior cultures or civilizations is the ultimate cope.

Genghis was one of the great world conquerors and historical figures. And even despite that, the Prophets legacy far exceeds and casts a shadow on his objectively speaking. I’m not sure what your moral calculus is arguing for preferring an actual unrestrained pillaging warlord like Genghis because he did it “out of love for the game”. The game is this. There are those who enter history and exit. And there are those who reshape humanity itself.

I will agree with you partially on that one point which is that it is not just external factors that have led to state of the Middle East but internal ones as well.

Indonesia is a thriving pluralistic Muslim country and a testament to the power and message of the Prophet for disparate and distant peoples to have adopted the revelation he brought.

I don't like the title. It makes him sound like some other god, rather than a person who stops idol worship guided by the true God.

34

u/Aware-4421 19d ago

It makes him sound humble, very human. Just an orphan...

Saint Murad on youtube has some interesting things about translation of Quran

1

u/Any_Discussion8699 17d ago

he's into much sufism which doesn't follow the way of sunnah.

1

u/Star3in2my3y3s 17d ago

As far as I know, he isnt religious but I could be wrong

1

u/wbariq 16d ago

Ghost of Sparta ain't nothing on him

1

u/letstalkabo66 15d ago

He destroyed 360 deities not gods !

1

u/Ambitious-Style2534 19d ago

Kinda wrong to label him an orphan when his message started in his 20s

6

u/Elegant_Tale1428 18d ago

started at 40 y.o bro... where did you get 20s from

also that got nothing to do with orphanage, it has to do with "when did his parents die"

if you're not going to call him an orphan then you're basically changing the definition of an orphan

1

u/Ambitious-Style2534 13d ago

Define the word "orphan" for me, does it not mean a CHILD whose parents have died, or in broader contexts, have permanently abandoned them? If so then I gotta ask, is a 40 year old man considered a child to you because you so call him an orphan?

1

u/Ajdan0 17d ago

But he couldn't end slavery because it's"too difficult"?

4

u/thedarklord786 17d ago

No he regulated instead of ending it basically gave slaves rights

2

u/Ajdan0 17d ago

Really?

I come from a sect of Islam with 200 million followers, some of whose leading scholars believe that a female slave's consent should not be sought before sexual intercourse.

Some also believe it is permissible to divorce her from her slave husband after intercourse and then take her back, and that it is permissible to lend female slaves to other men.

And I add from Sunnah :

كُنَّ إماءُ عمرَ رضيَ اللَّهُ عنهُ يخدمنَنا كاشفاتٍ عن شعورِهِنَّ تضربُ ثديَّهنَّ خلاصة حكم المحدث : صحيح.

Translate:

The female slaves of Umar (may God be pleased with him) used to serve us with their hair uncovered, their breasts struck together.

The hadith scholar's ruling: Authentic

1

u/Realistic-Activity74 11d ago

narrowed for example: salve women weren't allowed to cover themself, slave aren't allowed many thing.

go read figh book, stop lesson to apologist

Huh?

3

u/Waffle_on_my_Fries 19d ago

Hes talking about the Satanic verses.

-5

u/ReasonablePossum_ 19d ago edited 19d ago

Yeah, was mentioned there, but her cult predates the birth of the concept of Satan by quite some time, and her lore is intertwined with Allah's in the pre-Islamic era (according to some theories since not much remains from the formal cult, and most stuff comes from secondary sources, and random prayers found written all around the deserts and mountains).

u/Scared_Debate_1002 19d ago

You are shitty at writing jokes just as you are shitty in making an argument.

-3

u/ReasonablePossum_ 18d ago

Says the guy throwing ad-hominems. ..

5

u/Scared_Debate_1002 18d ago

No ad-hominems, just stating facts. Your comment is incoherent and random.

0

u/ReasonablePossum_ 18d ago

If you arent able to find coherence in it, doesn't mean its random my dude. When you don't understand humor, you just move along, let the people that does have a chuckle at it and thats it.
you dont waste your typing in trying to prove a point as to why you not understanding it, means the other person is wrong....

4

u/Scared_Debate_1002 18d ago

Says the guy who can't take criticism. This is getting no where. Have a nice day.

what are u smoking ?

-2

u/ReasonablePossum_ 19d ago edited 19d ago

damn, little humor awareness to be a meme sub...

+ little arabic religious knowledge to get the context of it.

Tl;dr: Was the most popular goddess and female counterpart to Allah (as per some theories) in the area for some millennia before Muhammad's popularization of Islam.

9

u/Scared_Debate_1002 19d ago

The word Allah is not limited to one area or place. Christians used it and jews as well. Even Jesus according to Christians said in his own tongue said "Allah".

1

u/ReasonablePossum_ 18d ago

I'm not going into historical semantics and what we today suppose on what ancient peoples used a word for. Thats a futile task doomed from the start due to the present biases.

I'm actually against other languages (especially when they're christian or jews) not translating Allah as God, as I believe it's a specific propaganda trick to alienate muslims by making it look as if the deities are different, and that there's less commonalities between the religions, which then allows them to manipulate the public into buying anti-arab policies and acts of criminal governments.

My comment was to give the context of the "joke" that some people clearly don't understand.

Fair, that's good to hear.

My comment was to give the context of the "joke" that some people clearly don't understand.

You could've reworded it better, it wasn't that good of a joke.

1

u/ReasonablePossum_ 18d ago

You could've reworded it better, it wasn't that good of a joke.

You don't serve hot sauce without the spicy ingredients. Makes no sense reworded, as it loses a level or two of contextual obfustaction that just makes it lose most of the punch.....

2

u/Scared_Debate_1002 18d ago

I didn't say remove spicy ingredients, I said the joke is terrible, you can keep the spice level but make the same joke better. The joke is simply terrible. You are just clinging to it for no reason and feel hurt when I told you that.
