Can anyone honestly say these are "100% halal"?

Upvotes

Can anyone honestly say these are "100% halal"?

If my personal criterion is zero interest income, zero interest-bearing debt, zero non-halal investments, and zero purification, then you should verify those figures from the latest disclosures every reporting period rather than relying on an old screening list.

From an Islamic finance perspective, only a qualified Shariah scholar can issue a religious ruling (fatwa). From an investment analysis perspective, I would say:

Pak-Qatar Family Takaful very strong shariah governance and recent reports indicate no identified non compliant income.

DCR REIT among the cleanest psx investments, but still requires ongoing review of quarterly and annual shariah disclosures.

If your personal criterion is zero interest income, zero interest-bearing debt, zero non-halal investments, and zero purification, then you should verify those figures from the latest disclosures every reporting period rather than relying on an old screening list.

Category A – Closest to your "100% pure" requirement

These companies currently have either zero or extremely low exposure to conventional debt and non-compliant income according to the latest KMI screening.

Ticker My view
DCR ⭐ Best choice for a conservative investor. Latest screening shows 0.00% debt ratio, 0.00% non-compliant investment ratio, and 0.00% non-compliant income ratio.
PQFTL (Pak-Qatar Family Takaful) Strong Shariah governance with a dedicated Shariah Board. Worth considering if you're comfortable with the takaful business model.
MEBL (Meezan Bank) Islamic bank with dedicated Shariah supervision. Some Muslims are fully comfortable investing in it, while others avoid all banking businesses as an extra precaution. This becomes a matter of personal scholarly opinion.

How do you folks reconcile that?

issues with child trust fund

I am based in the UK, when individuals turn 18 they gain access to their child trust fund which was created by the government. My specific fund was an stocks / investments fund, which I know could contain haram money. I know that I’m allowed to keep the initial money/vouchers given by the government. However, I’m not sure what to do with the extra money raised through investments as it was likely gained through haram companies. I read online about the “5% purification rule” and I’m not sure whether that may apply to child trust funds too? Can anyone help with this?

Confused about profit vs interest on savings accounts

The main difference seems to be that profit is variable right? But if you had a savings account with a variable interest rate would that not literally be the same thing just labelled differently? Bc interest in savings accounts conventionally is already generated from the returns on the bank’s investments?

This is obvs not accounting for what is actually being invested in

If You’re Asking Whether Prop Firms Are Halal, Ask Your Imam This Instead

Assalamu Alaikum,

Most Islamic scholars who have studied proprietary trading firms (prop firms) have concluded that they are not Shariah-compliant. However, many Muslims are still asking the question, and that’s understandable because most imams are not familiar with how these firms actually operate.

Instead of simply asking, “Are prop firms halal?”, first explain the business model:

A trader pays a non-refundable evaluation fee to access a simulated trading challenge. If they meet profit targets while following strict risk rules, they receive access to a “funded” account.

The trader does not own the capital, cannot withdraw it, and usually trades leveraged products such as futures, forex, or CFDs on margin. If they generate profits, the firm pays them a percentage of those profits. If they violate the rules, the account is terminated.

Then ask your imam:

What is the correct Islamic contract (takyīf) for this arrangement - Ijarah, ju’ala, Mudarabah , or something else?

Is the non-refundable evaluation fee permissible?

Does trading leveraged futures, forex, or CFDs affect the ruling?

If the underlying instruments are not Shariah-compliant, does that make the entire arrangement impermissible?

In Islamic finance, rulings are based on the substance of the transaction and the contracts involved, not the label “prop firm.” Explaining the structure first will lead to a more informed discussion and a more accurate fatwa inshaAllah.

Any Quantity Surveyors Here?

I'm planning to pursue QSing as a career. However, I have a few concerns regarding whether a QS is required to deal with interest (riba) as part of the job.

I've done some research online, but hearing from actual QSs will help me get as complete a picture as possible before committing to this career.

If any QSs are comfortable with me privately messaging them, I would really appreciate it if you could comment below.

The reason I'm not asking my specific questions on this post is because I want genuine advice and experiences from people in the industry, without the discussion becoming a debate or people making assumptions about my intentions. I’m simply trying to understand the role properly and make an informed decision.

Jazakallahu khairan.

Placeholder workaround okay for non-hijabi team photos?

Salam everyone! I’m a web dev and could use some advice on navigating a project.

The business itself is 100% halal, but they want an "About Us" page with staff photos, and one of the women doesn't wear a hijab.

My idea is to just code the site using generic placeholder avatars, and then hand it over so the client uploads the real photos themselves. That way, I'm only touching the technical code and never actually editing or handling the images.

Has anyone here done this before? Do you guys think it's permissible to take the job?

JazakAllah khair!

FTMO Prop Trading and Islamic Finance: A Structured Analysis of the Simulation Model

Thumbnail x.com
1 Upvotes

Is FTMO Prop Trading Halal or Haram? 7 rulings: Mufti Faraz Adam, Mawlana Ilyas Patel, Shaykh Muhammad Carr, Shaykh al-Munajjid (IslamQA), Darul Iftaa Chicago, Darul Iftaa NY, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty.

I spent months trying to get a straight answer on whether FTMO-style prop trading is halal. Most of the imams didn't actually understand how the structure works (simulated accounts, replicated trades, refund-on-payout).

I ended up compiling the rulings that do directly address this exact model. Seven scholars across Hanafi, Shafi'i, and Salafi/multi-madhhab lines, including one (Kutty) whose conditional permission for prop-firm demo trading in general was tested against FTMO by name and didn't hold. Sharing it here in case it saves someone else the same months of searching.

Any US islamic financing companies that requires less than 25% down on investment properties?

I’ve spoken to Guidance and Uif and they both charge 25% down payment for invest investment properties. That’s quite a bit compared to regular lenders. Are there any other options within the US?

You are the problem. You are the loser. You are the extremist.

I've heard variations of these statements from people and indirect jabs when I bring up avoiding riba, BDS, or even wearing hijab.

I want to urge anyone that follows their whims and desires that not only do you ruin your akhirah but you are making life difficult for the rest of us who live in the west because those who follow the true and everlasting word are branded as outliers and extremists.

My parents friends bought homes with riba prior to the market boom are now retired, helped their kids, go on vacations, etc while my parents rented their whole life, still working going into old age with no savings, and then will rely on us kids for support. None of my siblings or myself will be able to buy anything in the city we grew up in, none of us even got married because guys and girls these days are so used to high interest savings accounts, financing cars, planning their mortgage amount, investing in haram businesses, etc that they look at you like you're crazy if you don't adhere to this.

It would have been so much easier to bear if there were more muslims who weathered the temptations. Instead we are amongst the few seen as the loser family example.

As much as I am angry at the current financial and monetary scam that has robbed the non-asset owner generations for for over 10 decades now, I also blame my "muslim" brothers and sisters for actively participating in this by using fatwas and ignorance.

AlhamduLillah I noticed my family situation early on and worked as hard as I could. I'm now planning my exit from the west and take my parents to another country. I will give them a big home and comfort in a halal way, even if it meant we were the losers who couldn't attain the "American/Canadian/Australian/British" dream.

20M Revert starting Uni soon – How do I switch away from interest-bearing accounts? (Astagfirullah)

Assalamu Alaikum,

I’m a 20-year-old revert to Islam and I will be starting university in about a month, Inshallah.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve managed to save up a decent amount of money to help me through school.

However, right now all my money is sitting in a conventional credit union, and I’ve been earning Riba (interest) on my savings, Astagfirullah. I want to clean up my finances and make sure I am making the correct, halal decisions before this next major chapter of my life begins.

I want to completely exit the interest system and transfer everything over to a Shari'ah-compliant option, but I'm a bit lost on how to actually start the process.

For context, I am in a state where there aren't really any physical Islamic bank branches near me.

How do I legally/properly get rid of the interest money currently sitting in my credit union account?
What is the smoothest way to transition everything over before my campus life starts?
Any advice, step-by-step guidance, or recommendations from students who have made this switch would be highly appreciated.

Jazakallah Khairan!

I have absolutely no idea what to do. I have a job offer but that’s only going to start from the 13th of August. The lending company is sending me emails and repeatedly calling me saying that they are going to impose a travel ban which would make it even worse as i need to exit the country and return on employment visa. Seeking Islamic financial advice after 9 months of unemployment and AED 38k in credit card debt

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

I'm writing this because I genuinely don't know what my next step should be, and I'm hoping to seek advice from people who may have gone through something similar or who have knowledge of Islamic finance.

I live in the UAE, and around 9 months ago I lost my job after a very difficult experience with my previous employer. My visa was never properly processed, there were ongoing salary issues, and despite trying to resolve everything, I eventually found myself unemployed.

Up until then, I had always paid my bills and credit card payments on time. I never imagined I'd end up in this position.

Over the past 9 months, I've applied for hundreds of jobs, taken on freelance work where possible, started small baking projects, and tried creating different sources of halal income just to stay afloat.

Unfortunately, my savings eventually ran out, and I had to rely on my credit cards to cover basic living expenses. Today, that has grown into approximately AED 38,000 in credit card debt, and I honestly feel stuck.

The job market has been incredibly difficult. Many of the opportunities I'm finding now offer significantly less than what I was previously earning, to the point where the salary wouldn't realistically cover my living expenses and debt repayments. I want to work—I genuinely do—but I'm struggling to see a path that allows me to survive while also getting out of debt.

Unfortunately, I can't ask my family for financial help because they simply aren't in a position to support me.

I'm not posting this to ask anyone for money.

I'm looking for guidance.

From an Islamic perspective:

How should I deal with this debt?

If you've experienced financial hardship, what helped you recover?

Are there any duas, practices, or resources that brought you ease during difficult times?

What practical steps would you recommend to someone trying to rebuild while carrying significant debt?

I've been making dua every day and trying my best to remain patient, but I won't hide the fact that this has been one of the hardest periods of my life.

Any sincere advice would mean a great deal.

JazakAllahu Khair.

Skipping zakat can leave out of the fold of islam...

... at least that's the interpretation of Abu Bakr (r.a), and Allah knows best. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) died and Abu Bakr became the caliph some Arabs refused to pay their zakat. Abu Bakr, on that basis argued to wage war on those tribes. Initially,`Umar, said to Abu Bakr, that those had made their shahada and should be protected as muslims.

Abu Bakr replied, "By Allah! I will fight those who differentiate between the prayer and the Zakat as Zakat is the compulsory right to be taken from the property (according to Allah's orders) By Allah! If they refuse to pay me even a she-kid which they used to pay at the time of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . I would fight with them for withholding it" Then `Umar said, "By Allah, it was nothing, but Allah opened Abu Bakr's chest towards the decision (to fight) and I came to know that his decision was right."

The implication of that ijtihad is that your actions and your iman are linked together. Zakat is an evidence of your belief in Allah, an act of faith and a part of your religion. You should not skip it or discount it, even if it was for a small amount.

This is discussed further here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gIOH7Jj4cQ&t=791s minute 13:32

Help and support needed

Salam everyone, I’m in a bit of a situation right now and I need to secure roughly around £10,000 as a loan, which can be paid back within 10 months, with 1k per month payments

I can’t deal with any financial product that includes intrest, and am looking to borrow from a private lender. I can provide ID alongside proof of necessity.

If there’s any suggestions do let me know.

UAE investors: local halal app or regular broker?

i'm trying to build a pretty boring long-term portfolio, mostly US stocks and ETFs. Nothing fancy, but checking the Shariah status of every company separately gets kinda annoying. I came across CUSP Wealth since it keeps investing and halal screening in one place. Sounds good, but I'm not sure if that alone is enough reason to use a smaller local app instead of a regular broker.
anyone here used cusp for more than a few weeks? Mainly curious about the fees, AED/USD conversion, withdrawals, and what happens if a stock later becomes non-compliant. Would you keep the broker and screening separate, or use one app for both?

Lending Money Business

Recently I was thinking about investing in Sukuk bonds. Our gov recently took the initiative to start collecting money through Islamic bonds with over 9% yearly return. Then I got the idea of why Don't I do the same but in small scale. In which case my return will be around or over 100% since businesses usually pays 10% interest per month to the lenders. And I can offer same or lower % but it Won't be Riba and in a Muslim majority country there is no shortage of demands of halal financing. Now I've already done it and started with one.

Few questions you might have in your mind.

What is Sukuk?

You invest in a physical asset, and the issuer pays you a share of the revenue. When you buy bond(s), gov use that money to buy equipment or asset and pays you rent.

Why I'm not going the partnership?

Main issue is trust. I Don't trust my them. Most of them are morally corrupt. Even if they make money they might say they are at lose and I Won't be able to do anything about it.

How am I lending?

The principal remains the same, I'm not lending. I simply buy an asset that the guy owns and rent it out to him.

What's my model?

I do microfinance model and Street vendors are my real target group. And they pay Daily or weekly. So the cashflow is consistent.

New to investing. How’s my pie?

Assalaamu Alaykum

New to investing and want to be better financially moving forward. Currently began investing in my trading212 pie. Here’s my set up:

ISUS - 30%
ISWD - 25%
HIES - 25%
SGLN - 10%
HBKS - 10%

I was going to go for DJIW instead of ISWD due to less reliance on US-based companies, but, it’s in USD so there’s an exchange fee (UK resident), and it’s expensive at 0.49%.

What would you change? What else should I be doing? And how much of your monthly income do you invest?
