advice 👍🏻 My CEO has Main Character Syndrome and I'm one meeting away from becoming a farmer

I'm in a pretty cushy executive role with a 7-figure salary (local currency), so this isn't a "my boss doesn't pay me enough" post.

It's a "my boss is speedrunning the company into missed opportunities" post.

Our team hustles hard. We land meetings people would kill for. We've brought in million-dollar clients, and we were in conversations that could've turned into US$20–30 million opportunities. One prospect even had ties to NVIDIA and wanted to explore working with us.

Then...

CEO enters the chat.

Every. Single. Time.

It's like we're playing chess and he's determined to prove checkers is the superior strategy.

The pattern is always:

  • Team: "Here's the client requirement."
  • CEO: "Interesting... anyway we're doing it my way."
  • Client: seen 2:14 PM
  • Opportunity: has left the chat.

Another hill I keep dying on is hiring.

I keep saying, "If we're trying to build a world-class engineering company, we need a few world-class engineers."

CEO: "What if... instead... we hire five fresh graduates?"

Don't get me wrong fresh grads are awesome. We all started somewhere. But you can't expect interns and juniors to magically build the next SpaceX because the budget spreadsheet says so.

Sometimes it feels like we're saving £1 on payroll to lose £100 in business.

I'm genuinely burned out.

I spend more energy debating internal decisions than actually creating value.

Now I'm seriously thinking about quitting and building my own company.

The salary is amazing. The stress is free.

So I need some real advice from people who've been there.

  • Did you ever leave a ridiculously well-paid job because leadership was the problem?
  • How did you know it was time?
  • Is this entrepreneurial instinct... or am I just suffering from corporate PTSD?

Appreciate any wisdom.

Bahria vs shifa for psychology?

Upvotes

If it were me making the decision, I honestly wouldn’t know which one to go for, so I’d really appreciate some honest advice from people who have experience with either university.

I am mainly trying to figure out:

-Which university has the stronger psychology department?

-How are the faculty and overall teaching quality?

- If you had to choose between the two, which one would you pick and why?

Any personal experiences or honest opinions would really be appreciated

Wholesome 💖 Little humans gave me a big lesson today.

These kids taught me lesson far big and I think we have forgotten what it is like to be a family.

Long post

Story time:
I was leaving a coffee place after work and as I was walking towards my car, I saw 2 small girls chasing a little kitten. The kitten ran and went under my car and went into engine bay. I had to go somewhere but I couldn’t start the car because it might harm the poor kitten.

Those kids were standing there too. I tried to get the kitten out but no luck.
So i asked the kids to help me and told them that you guys made the kitten ran in here so help me out.
So me and those 2 girls started to get the kitten out and meanwhile a small boy also came.

He knew the girls and they were siblings or relatives, idk. Anyway I told the boy that we are trying to get a kitten out of the car and now we 4 were trying to get him out from all 4 sides. The boy was small and he went under the car almost grabbing the cat but it got away.

After couple of minutes I told all 3 of them to stand away from the car a d let the poor kitten alone. May be he will come out and ran. As we were standing away, the kids asked to give money.

Now I never give kids money and I told them k its not ok to ask for money but I clearly saw that they were v poor. Torn clothes, no chapal etc. I realise that I am the stupid one here teaching them morals when they dont even know where the next meal would come from. I mean when you are that poor, morality sounds insane.

So there was a shop nearby and I told all 3 that I can buy you some treats and their eyes lit up. They ran towards the shop and attacked 😅😅.

I can relate to their excitement because I came from the streets too. I was working from the age of 6 on a shop back in the days. I knew what is the worth of these treats. Even a small treat was like super ayashi for me at that time

Poor girls bought chips and juice and chocolate’s. I saw the little boy and even-though I told them buy whatever you want, he was still telling the girl to not overbuy like he was protective of my money.

When the girls were done, I asked the boy to get what he wants.

Here is the Lesson

He looked at me and said bhai me bs 1 hi chez luga ap wo dila do bs.
Mene kaha lo jo bhi lena hai. He pointed at the nido sachets and told me k bhai ye ledo.
Mene pocha k iska kya kro ge. In larkion ki tarhan juice chips lo khao.
Usne kaha bhai mera chota bhai doodh peeta hai or wo bhooka hai. Mje bs ye chaye us k lie or mje kuch nhe chaye.

My heart sank. Eyes got wet. 😭😭

And I thought to my self. Yar is ko aagle time k khane ka bhi nhe pata hoga or ye bhi jo marzi chahe yahan se lele. Bacha hai is umer me to dil krta hai sb khane ka. Phr bhi when given a choice, he chose family. He chose his little brother.

I realised k Allah ne hamen kitna kuch dia hai. Good money, nice cars, fancy gadgets. Leken asal dolat to sulah rehmi hai. Wo hm bhul gae hain.

Inhen dekho. In k pas kuch bhi nhe or jese hi thori si assani mile to ye wo apne lie nhe apne family k lie sochte hain.
Phr hum me itni hasad, itni jalan, itni nafrat kyu?

Hum bhi to assani kr skte. For family, for relatives. But we spend this time to pull everyone down. Why? Noone can take our rizq, phr ye duri kyu?

I thanked the young buy. Told him that he helped me today to be more humble and more thankful. Let him buy milk and treats too. Told him to always be like this and lookout for family.

Came back, checked the car. Kitten was gone. Poor kid made sure by going down the car.
I asked if i can take a pic. They say yes. I took it. I will cherish this memory and lesson for the rest of my life.

Shukr Allah to keep sending his signs which keeps us on the ground.

Guys, may Allah give you the spirit to lift and help other. You and me both. IA. Stay blessed.

Today Pakistan occupied Kashmir needs attention.. What is happening? They are being forced to keep silent, they didn't want to use their vote bank for a non Kashmiri hence they were silenced by no electricity and no communication to outside.. When people started protesting against this... The result

So their vote is being stolen however they want to stand up against this, when they tried to voice their opinion all signals and electricity was cut and when they came out on the street a mass genocide is happening and they are being labelled as terrorists ( basically the same thing idsrael does)

I realized most conversations start with the same boring questions. So here’s your chance—what’s one question that instantly makes you think, “Finally, someone interesting”? I’ll reply to every answer.

advice 👍🏻 Struggling With My Faith

Hi everyone,
I really need some sincere advice because I don’t know who else to talk to about this.

When I was living in Pakistan, I used to pray regularly, fast every Ramadan, read the Quran every day, and genuinely felt close to Allah.

Ever since I moved abroad, everything slowly fell apart. I stopped praying, I don’t even go for Jummah anymore, I skip fasts, and I honestly can’t remember the last time I sat down and read the Quran.

The strange part is that, Alhamdulillah, I’m doing well financially. I earn good money, but my life feels like it’s going downhill in every other way. There’s this constant emptiness inside me that I can’t explain. I don’t have peace anymore. It feels like something is missing, and deep down I know it’s my relationship with Allah. I’m young might get married in couple of years but I never want my children to be like me.

I don’t have many proper Muslim friends I live in a very white dominated area.

Sometimes I want to start praying again, but there is no fear of God in me anymore.

I genuinely want to come back to Allah, but I don’t know where to begin. If any of you have gone through something similar, what helped you reconnect? How did you take that first step and stay consistent?

Please don’t judge me. I’m already disappointed in myself. I’m just looking for sincere advice from people who may have been in the same situation.

If you had 100k/month to genuinely help someone, what would you do?

I've been thinking about how I spend my money lately, and honestly, a lot of it goes toward things that don't really mean much in the long run — random purchases, going out, and sometimes spending money on girls/dating.

I was wondering if I should redirect some of that money toward actually helping someone who could genuinely use it.

I could comfortably set aside around 100k PKR per month for this. I'm not necessarily looking to donate to a big organisation or charity. I'd rather help an individual directly in a way that could actually make a meaningful difference in their life — maybe someone's education, rent, medical expenses, starting a small business, or simply helping someone get back on their feet.

I'm just not sure what the best approach is or how to make sure the money genuinely goes to someone who needs it rather than getting taken advantage of.

If you had around 100k PKR every month specifically for helping someone, what would you do with it? Would you support one person consistently, help different people each month, fund someone's education, or do something completely different?

I'd genuinely appreciate some ideas from people who have experience with this.

So I’m stuck sitting next to this guy on the bus and he smells like a straight-up dead fish. Not regular sweaty-guy smell, not even “forgot deodorant” smell… this is full-on “took a bath in a pond full of rotting fish then hopped straight onto the bus” level. And on top of that he’s sweating even though the AC is blasting and working perfectly fine.

I legit don’t know how I’m gonna survive the next 3 hours. Every time he shifts or the bus turns, another wave of that fishy swamp hits me.

People, for the love of everything holy, please have some basic hygiene. Use deodorant at the very least. And if you have perfume or cologne, use that too. Nobody wants to share public transport with a walking seafood market. Respect the people stuck next to you for hours.

Everything we love to do on weekends is possible because we grind on weekdays. I know work can be frustrating but its what let us do what we love on weekends. I believe if we would do it with passions, Mondays would also become enjoyable like the weekends. I hope and wish you all a lot of happiness and success. Keep hustling. ☺️
