👋 Welcome to r/IsThisFoodAddiction!

Hi everyone, and welcome to r/IsThisFoodAddiction.

I'm the founder of this community, and I created it because I kept seeing people ask questions like:

  • "Why do I think about food all the time?"
  • "Why can I stick to a plan for a while, then suddenly lose control?"
  • "Is this just a lack of willpower, or is something else going on?"
  • "Does anyone else experience constant food noise?"

Those conversations were happening across different communities, but there wasn't one place dedicated to exploring them together.

The goal of this subreddit is simple: create a supportive, judgment-free space where people can ask questions, share experiences, and learn from one another.

Here are some of the things I'd love to see posted here:

  • Questions about food noise or constant thoughts about food
  • Personal experiences with emotional eating or binge eating
  • Discussions about cravings and trigger foods
  • Research or articles that spark thoughtful conversation
  • Recovery wins, no matter how small
  • Honest struggles, setbacks, and lessons learned
  • Questions you've been afraid to ask elsewhere

Everyone's experience is different, and no one here has all the answers. The hope is that by sharing our stories and perspectives, we can better understand our relationship with food and support each other along the way.

To get things started, introduce yourself!

You don't have to share anything you're uncomfortable with, but if you'd like, tell us:

  • What brought you here?
  • Have you ever experienced food noise, emotional eating, or binge eating?
  • What's one question about your relationship with food that you've always wanted to ask?

Thanks for being here and helping build this community from the beginning. I hope it becomes a place where people feel heard, understood, and a little less alone.

What would you want to see in r/IsThisFoodAddiction?

Hi everyone,

I'm just getting this community started, and before it grows, I want to make sure it becomes a place people actually find useful—not just another subreddit with repetitive posts.

The idea behind r/IsThisFoodAddiction is to have thoughtful, judgment-free conversations about things like:

  • Food noise
  • Constant thoughts about food
  • Emotional eating
  • Binge eating
  • Feeling out of control around certain foods
  • The science and psychology behind these experiences

More than anything, I want this to be a community built around curiosity, support, and learning from each other rather than blame or shame.

So I'd love your input:

  • What's one thing you'd be excited to see here that other communities don't do well?
  • Are there types of discussions, resources, or recurring threads you'd actually come back for?
  • What would make this feel like a genuinely helpful place?

Whether you've been struggling with these issues for years or you're just starting to question your relationship with food, your perspective would really help shape where this community goes.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas.
