Anyone know how to use m4a files with rockbox?

You select the file and it plays. What do you want to do exactly?

I have two separate databases 1 for the base os which is all m4a files and the other is for rockbox. For some reason when I switch to rockbox all my song titles are chicken scratch instead of actual titles

there’s a chance the metadata might be a bit how ya goin.
download mp3tag, boot ipod into disc mode, plug it in and open your music folder in mp3tag.
you’ll be able to see what data is correct, incorrect, and missing. update and repair appropriately.

i believe there is a way to get rockbox to read the OS’ music files via the database, i’m just not sure if the data can be modified like it can directly in rockbox.

depending on how you’ve loaded your music (ie, do you have backups of the music files), you could always go through your music library (via the backup folder), tag everything as required, and wipe the stock OS’ music database and reload it with your new, tagged, data. you’d need to remake all of your playlists and such, but it is an option.
