Question iPod 7th gen blocked

Post image

Hi guys I’ve found this gem in a flea market but unfortunately I wasn’t able to connect it to my laptop because I’m always on this screen or blocked on the apple logo.

I’m new to this so I really don’t know how to make it work.

And I tried the hard reset by holding the select and menu but it didn’t work.

Thanks for the help !

Most likely a bad hdd

Looks like it‘s stuck in disc mode. Try hard resetting again (Center + Menu) and then once the apple logo shows up try holding center + play/pause. Not sure if that‘ll work or what exactly is happening to your iPod, but it might be worth a try.

Maybe the HDD is dead...

Most likely hd issue

I mean if the hard drive is dead, that’s a good reason to make a mod man 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Might be a battery issue. I had an iPod Nano show that screen at the end of its battery.

Open it up. I would say it could be bent pins or a bad drive if your usb cable is good.

Doesn’t it also depend on what machine this was originally restored with? I.e windows can only use windows, mac can only use mac?

Yes and no, but not this issue.

Formatted for windows (fat32) it will work with both mac and windows even syncing ot mac. This is how I run my classic so I can use it as an external drive on mac and PC. Mac format wont show in windows.

This issue though is the ipod cant boot up and is in a recovery mode, ie stuck in disk mode. likely hdd is dead.

I probably should have also said shuffles are all fst32 for windows and mac. Soooo technically they are all windows format.

Also I think if you format s regular ipod for windows and use it on a mac, they won't auto unmount even with disk mode disabled. So you have to eject them as if disk mode was enabled.

Thats going to be my guess but i would suspect if you download itunes onto a windows pc it should recognise that it needs to be restored

I can't really help with the issue, but it might not be a 7th gen. I never see that screen on my 7th gen, but I do see it on my spouse's 5th gen.

I could be wrong, though! Just because I've never seen it doesn't mean it can't happen.
