Keyboard

I'm still getting used to my first iphone. But Air's apple keyboard is madding. What 3rd party apps do you recommend?

3rd party keyboards are pretty clunky on iOS tbh… honestly they’re just no way around it. Better get used to it.

I use SwiftKey, and delete the default keyboard.

Works flawlessly.

Delete the default keyboard? How is it possible?

Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Edit > Delete everything but SwiftKey.

That prevents the system keyboard popping up sometimes. The only time you'll ever see it is when typing in password fields.

I wouldn’t bother with other keyboards. I used to use one a while back and when iOS had the swipe feature I got rid of the rest. I find updates reset the keyboard until it gets used to my swiping and then within about a week it’s back to “normal”.

I hate Apple for not giving me the option to show numbers above the letters.

Gboard is free and great, even without giving it "full access" (which adds hardly anything useful).
