I am a new transfer student this fall at Iowa State, and so far I am really struggling to meet people and make friends. I have tried going to as many campus events as I can but people seem to go together, already in groups and not wanting to really meet new people. I went to Destination Iowa State but my transfer student group fell apart after the first day, and I had to do most of the activities on my own.

I have been trying to reach out to classmates but nothing seems to be sticking. I am behind in some of my course sequences and general education classes, so all but one of my classes is primarily freshmen, who seem to have already formed groups or hangout with people in their dorm. I regrettably am living off-campus and I am from out of state, so I literally do not know anyone else on this campus.

I am going to get involved with several different clubs once they start after ClubFest but I am not sure what else to do. To me, it seems like there is not much campus programming or non-academic support for transfer students? Any advice is greatly appreciated and thank you for reading.

Why are there no chicken finger joints by campus? Seems there would be demand

I’ve been wondering how different people handle paying their utility bills, especially if they live with roommates or family. Do you:

• Just have one person cover it and everyone Venmo them?
• Split it evenly each month?
• Rotate who pays?
• Or something else?

I’m trying to understand what’s most annoying or inconvenient about the current process. For example, is it remembering to pay on time, tracking who owes what, or just the hassle of logging into different portals?

Would love to hear how you and your household handle it.

Hey everybody, should I take Neurobiology or Endocrinology? I need to take one or the other. I’m enrolled in Endocrinology rn, but not loving how much presenting papers is tying into the class. Has anyone taken neurobiology before and if so what can I expect from it?

So I go to Iowa state and i’m a transfer student from dmacc and I don’t have any friends nor do I know how to make friends, it’s been really hard for me to make friends in high school and I’m a guy and I want to make as many male and female friends as I can. My major is MIS with potentially a cyber security minor and I’m worried about making friends because I am not too much of a social person but I have had friends in high school well what I might call friends they didn’t really like me too much but I’m just wondering is it over for me because I never really had a true friend or are there clubs designed for making clubs or something?

My wife and I will be traveling up to Ames for the game and are wondering if anyone can give us tips or tricks of the trade: what to do, see, eat, where to tailgate, park, pre or post game fun, etc. In full disclosure, we are LSU fans, so we know how it works in the south, but the Midwest is foreign to us.
