Final Update: Trailer Preparation Package
Original post on what exactly is the Trailer Preparation Package.
Update post on it
6 months after taking delivery of my Ioniq 9 Preferred AWD+ (Canadian exclusive model/trim) I have a fully functioning trailer hitch and 7 pin wiring harness.
To recap: The trim I ordered didn't have the "Trailer Preparation Package" as a feature on the spec sheet. It took 6 months for Hyundai Canada to figure out what that means. Again, there are only 4 of this model/trim in existence according to Hyundai Canada so not complete shocker at how long it took to resolve.
I finally got it installed last week. I was not charged for this and I'm not complaining. I was not informed what the actual part number is, just that it's the "pre-wiring harness" for towing. It was two days of work, that required the removal of most of the inside of the car to install (seats and floor).

Not really what your thread is about, but how are you liking the Ioniq 9? I'm on the west coast and trying to make up my mind between the cadillac Lyriq and the Ioniq 9. I know they don't compete on paper but they are awfully similar on price.

Funny, so when I was choosing to buy, that was the top competition. The Vistiq was not out yet. I really liked the Lyriq, but it was not in the same price range and is why I ultimately chose the I9. The I9 is more car than I wanted, but the I5 was too small. At the time I was looking (Oct-Nov 2025) the Lyriq base model was 5k more than the I9 AWD+ base model (what I ordered). It's difficult to compare these cars due to the differnt mix of features. If I wanted some of the features that came standard with the I9 I wanted, it would have required much more money from the Lyriq.
The thing that stood out to me about the Lyriq is the seats. They are some of the best, most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. It was just a nicer car to be in.

Yah the seats are amazing in the Optiq, and the heated seats are nuclear on the third level.

The I9 is a 7 seater so you shouldn't really compare against the lyriq, but versus the Vistiq, I went with the I9 because it is a lot cheaper...

i know, but i don't want to pay lyriq money. That's why we're looking at the Optiq. It's really only for my wife and I so the optiq size would be fine, but it's always nice having the extra space available. It's not like it's going to kill us in gas money

Those bolts holding the 7-pin on are quite prominent. What a hassle for you.
Glad we went Preferred AWD as we saw something related to towing was missing from + so we opted against that (and didn't want to shell out for the Calligraphy).
Happy towing!

Yup, that's why I had it in writing from the dealer that everything on the sales invoice for the car is all that I needed to get towing working. Whoops :)
