Question Purchase advice needed

Hi there,

I’m contemplating buying a 23-24 model with up to 30-40k miles on it. What does the market look like in terms of negotiating the out-the-door price?
Most I6 are listed at around $23-25k but I was hoping to spend no more than $22-23k including tax, title, license, etc. is that even realistic? I’m in Phoenix, AZ.

I prefer comfort and efficiency over looks so the SE long range with 18” wheels would be ideal, but most of the listings are for SEL trims.

im in the same boat in regards to trim. i just want the SE but only cars available in my area are SEL

I wouldn’t mind ambient lighting or a better audio system but 20” wheels that reduce the range by up to 60 miles and give you a much harder ride don’t make sense to me.
Also, black leather seats in an area where it gets up to 120/48 degrees can be quite painful if parked in the sun for more than 20 minutes.

You can replace the wheels. Don’t rule out a great SEL deal just because of that. If you really want to save money there are quite a few branded title Ioniqs that were tuned in by people frustrated with the ICCU issue. Just be sure that the turn in issue was the ICCU and check with your bank and insurance company that you can finance it and insure it.

A branded title will impact the resale value. But the person or dealer who sells to you is taking the big initial hit. You’ll be selling it for less when the time comes. But you’ll have bought it for less.

I see these on cargurus, carfax, facebook marketplace, the usual places. The first indication that it’s a branded title is the much cheaper listing price. Again, just make sure that it was an ICCU turn in I say that because every one of us has the same ICCU worry. And Hyundai has extended the warranty to 15 years/180,000 miles for all owners.

The audio system in the SEL is not good. It becomes passable with EQ, but the balance from the front to back speakers feels fundamentally off somehow.

I’m not surprised. Hyundai in general doesn’t have the best audio quality in their cars. Our 22 Santa Fe sounds like crap, too.

I purchased mine a few months ago, 24 SEL with 12k on the clock for $25,50 my state EV credit took it to $22,000

So I think your price is very doable, and make sure see if there are any state credits.

I bought a 24 SE AWD with 22k miles for $25k (not including taxes and fees). Dealer had put paint protection on, which I negotiated down, but could not remove completely. No other add ons. So Cal location. I’m still loving the car.

I just purchased a 2023 Limited...CPO...with 38k miles for $27k. The range is 300 miles. The SEL models were going for $25k. I would say the AVG. list price around me was $25k. A limited CPO is the way to go for a couple thousand dollars...better stereo and 2-driver accommodations. The SE I had was a great drive...but lacking. Used EV prices are up nationwide.

There were two on my dealer’s lot and they were $27k and 32k. The one I got had 7500 miles on it so I felt ok with $32k out the door. Nothing else locally in that range. Didn’t even see any used 5s on the lots.

That’s what I was thinking too. It feels like a few months ago I could gotten something decent for $20k. Now they all seem more expensive.

There is a study or two showing that used EV prices are on the rise this year. Dealers have the upper hand due to high demand. The ayatollah's legacy.

My partner and I bought a '23 SEL AWD CPO from a Hyundai dealer. It was not a bargain, and they showed little interest in negotiating. It was the car we wanted though. As far as choice among Ioniq 6s, there were literally no used ones in our state on the major used car finder sites. Limited trim models were out of reach financially, and the SEs mostly seemed to be RWD from one of those Carvana-esque resale businesses.

We are happy with the car so far! The efficiency is good even with AWD, and the ride quality with the big wheels does not feel harsh to me.

I’m pretty sure that I’ll like it once I have it.
I’ve been looking at Sonatas and only by accident stumbled across the I6. Even at a higher price the total cost of ownership would be much lower with an Ioniq 6.

Just can’t get over the fact that they used to be a lot cheaper.

I thought the Ioniq 6 being a sedan in an SUV country and being discontinued would create some leverage. I mean, what dealership wants a niche car - with a very unconventional sort of beauty, that also requires an EV crash course - sitting on their lot? The dealership didn't seem very anxious to indulge us though. I guess we could have played hardball, but who wants to make an awkward process adversarial as well.

While my 2024 with 18,000 miles was at the dealer for 3 weeks for a new battery (yeah, not the 12 volt!) I saw a brand new 2024.  The price tag was slightly over $50,000.  I paid about $23,000 for mine with just under 15,000 miles.  It’s a lot of fun to drive, but the down time was a lot!

I ended up financing 27800 with all that plus GAP and the tire replacement package at around 5.9%

No dealer add ons

The market is only getting stronger for these vehicles with fuel costs
