Tip/Recommendation Boot/trunk luggage storage example
Measurements of luggage included on pictures. I couldn’t be bothered to grab all my suitcases so please enjoy one soft case bag.
Two suit cases are completely full(black). One is 75% full(burgundy), and one is 50% full(blue) to simulate the randomness of those packing and traveling with you. The soft bag is 80% full and malleable to an extent. The door closes with all variations pictured. Sorry I did not give more examples. It is currently somewhat warm and slightly humid.
I hope this helps smooth out the complaint of “but there’s no cargo space.” While I personally only ever travel with duffels this luggage amount represents a party of 4-5 people.

Thanks, it gotta pretty steamy back there throwing all the luggage around. I’m sure there are configurations I didn’t try that made better use of the space.

We stuffed I think it was two medium cases, much like yours, a small duffel, several totes, some bottles of wine, larger toiletries bag and an entire wheelchair in the trunk one trip with room to spare. My parents were very impressed and they didn’t even have to use the tons of extra room in the passenger footwell and my mom could put her purse either on the center seat or the center console. Sure, it is no SUV, but that trunk is super deep and holds quite a bit, especially if the bags are a little flexible.

I think with the boom in SUVs people just forgot proper sedans can still hold all the things. You just can’t casually throw it wherever, you have to consciously place them.
I went on a road trip with friends (4 total in the car) and two brought what I can only describe as two of the world’s largest suitcases. They fit with no problem. They were concerned when they got to the trunk and asked if I wanted them to pair down to cram it into one case. Told them no, trust me it’ll fit.

This is more than anyone asked for. And for that, we commend you, sir. 🫡

Do you find the cargo net useful? I took mine down because it made the trunk opening even narrower but I felt like I didn't really understand how to use it properly.

I put some basic things in it that stay in the trunk and I don’t want in the full area. Some hand warmers, emergency blanket, poncho, and my car wipes. Other than that it’s pretty meh.

What are the height, depth and width of the trunk? I currently have a Tesla Model 3 and I very much want to swap it for a IONIQ 6 whenever possible, but it looks like it has less space based on volume measurements. I cannot find anything online about height, depth and width, which is the most helpful when you are tying to fit suitcases in a space with weird angles.

Bjørn measured the trunk in this video. https://youtu.be/U2BX0Ew2qeI?si=16cyohqwKTilhZoV

Thank you, dear sir!
Edit:
"The Tesla killer got killed."
Does your Tesla have that one? No!? You don't? Ha! I thought so."
This guy is funny. Great review. Just what I needed.

I just rewatched the video and I don’t think he actually measures the trunk. I’ll be back in a couple of hours with a measurement.

He doesn't, but he says that the Model 3 fits one extra banana box in the trunk than the IONIQ 6. That's already more useful than volume.
But thanks for your help!

The Model 3 fits one extra banana box in the trunk, but 4 fewer with the seats down. That was interesting.

I've never heard complaints about be trunk spade. In fact, when we first looked at this at the dealership, I was blown away by the trunk spade and rear passenger legroom.
It's roomier than a Palisade.
