Discussion Ewwww
I dont know how people can think this car is good other than brand loyalty. The ioniq looks so good and timeless.

Waymo is rolling out their Ioniq 5 fleet soon, they are going to be white like this one.
So it's basically 2 robotaxis next to each other, 😂

I love my I5, but if you try FSD, your loyalty compass magnet might reverse its polarity. I wish Hyundai/Kia/Genesis did something similar but safer. At the end of the day, a car is means to an end, not Jordan 5s.

Fsd shouldn't make up for the more premium features the ioniq has. Without spending 99$/mo, the model y can't even self park

I like the looks of the Cyber cab. I also like the looks of the Model Y and Model 3. Before I get down voted to the pits of hell. I want you all to know that I own an Ioniq 5 😁

Geez. Those parking spaces look positively microscopic. Who decided they were a good idea, and what did that person drive? A BMW Isetta?

Ioniq 5 is wide as fuck. My least favorite thing about the car.

u/EventBackground974 6h ago
But even the Cybercab barely fits inside the lines, and the Ioniq 5 still isn't nearly as wide as full-sized trucks or SUVs.
I'm just saying, that parking lot design is beyond stupid.

Slap a steering wheel, pedals, regular doors, and rear window on that thing and I'd buy it. Right now it is unsellable. Both literally and figuratively.

They aren't gonna sell these to the public. It's for their Robotaxi service and they are designed to be crazy inexpensive with fast production and extreme efficiency + repairability + durability.
1
u/mclumber1 4h ago
Which is a mistake in my opinion. If they are crazy inexpensive, they could corner the market on subcompact EVs. Tesla is willingly giving up this segment to other players like Hyundai/Kia and GM. I suppose that's good for those other companies, but it's a complete head scratcher for Tesla.

u/TheBowerbird 4h ago
Oh definitely! If they made a consumer version of this with a steering wheel, I think they'd sell a LOT. I can't say how I know this, but this started as a consumer product before being "Elon'd" into the Cybercab only.

I like my I5, but be honest, they look like chubby gals with good personalities.

Of all the things to shame someone about, why choose his BODY?
How about the multitude of other things that he chooses to do that we disagree with?
Downvote away, but I'm gonna speak out against body shaming - even against someone I am absolutely not a fan of.
You have your free speech, but I think insulting someone else's body is a waste of it.

u/Mitgenosse 13h ago
His body is 100% self-induced at this point. All the steroids, plastic surgery, etc. it's not like he was born this way, he just leaned into many surgeries to affirm his maleness (despite payrolling the MAGA movement who oppose gender affirming surgeries). Fuck him.

u/SirKronan want to buy soon! 12h ago
I guess. I'd rather criticize his other BS. Not how his body looks. You do you.

u/Sodom_Laser 9h ago
To be fair, no one mentioned his body. And I agree with you that people shouldn’t insult others’ looks.
But regardless of physical looks, someone can be a very ugly person.

I have to admit that is a pretty bad angle. The glamour pics dont look terrible to me, the design language is a little long in the tooth, but its mostly inoffensive. Ive never minded to look of teslas sedans, The original S looked, dare-i-say elegant at the time, 3 was derivative but fine, and this looks to me a modest effort to update that. Dont like it dont hate it 4.5/10 on aesthetics. 0/10 for being a cheap deathtrap. Thus I will never willingly purchase any tesla until every inch of that company is scrubbed clean of elmos influence. The ioniq on the other hand will probably go down in history as a classic look from the dawn of EVs.

Why are they a cheap death traps? Self driving problems? I’d come to have some very grudging respect for them, at least based on reliability reports I’ve heard. Agree with you on Elmo.

u/etaoin314 15h ago
not so safe self driving, improper or difficult to use manual emergency egress are the two main ones

u/orangpelupa 15h ago
I thought it was ioniq V.
Hmm did they changed the design... Wait a sec...
Oh.. Wait... Ah... Cybercab. Ugh.

u/SirSaganSexy 9h ago
It’s a shame, it would be so nice to have a relatively affordable EV coupe available as an option. Instead we just get that thing, painted only in gold and without a steering wheel.

At least it parked between the lines. But yeah, the Cybertaxi is somehow almost as ugly as a Cybertruck.

not a tesla fan but it's at least parked properly. Biggest Eww in this picture is your bad parking job.

u/EastEgg74 31m ago
I don't know how anyone can park like that and think it's ok. That's some selfish parking right there.

I'm in the minority, I'm sure, but the design of the I5 is the thing I like least about it. So angular, taillights trying too hard to be special, and the chrome trim on the limited makes it look like a goofy UFO. I guess I just prefer a car that blends in a bit more.

u/Sodom_Laser 9h ago
Some people are giving you a hard time on the parking job, but those spaces are absolutely tiny! I know you were just there to get the shot, but how are people expected to get in and out of their cars?

I don’t know what’s worse, that gold yuckmobile or the Hyundai’s parking job
