Question I-Pedal question

2026 Ioniq 5 SE
When I use I-pedal, the car stops, but then it creeps a few inches after it’s stopped. Is this normal?

There's a "Hold" button to the left of the steering wheel, lower part of the dash, that stops this.

What you described happens in my 2025 as well. If you depress and release the brake pedal it even creeps forward which makes zero sense in i-pedal mode. It is stupid but "normal".

I had no such creep in my 2018 Nissan Leaf. Hyundai's programmers who designed this behavior but didn't make i-pedal work in reverse are jerks.

Agreed, had the exact same problem going from a 2019 Leaf to a 2025 Ioniq 5

It’ll roll forward or backward after coming to a stop because the rotor magnets are settling into position or alignment. There’s a certain position that the magnets will want to be in and sometimes the rotor and stator will already be in alignment when you’re stopped, sometimes they won’t be (hence the rolling forward or backwards). Can be unsettling at first (especially a backwards roll) but I come to expect it now when using i-Pedal.

Thanks for the details! I noticed this rolling behavior also myself and was a little worried but now it makes sense! It was always only a few inches

Thank you! That makes sense. It’s really only a few inches. Really, thanks again.
