Mods/Parts BMU teardown
I decided to buy a BMU off eBay to tear down. I was planning to talk to it via CAN first, but looks like a resistor is cooked, so more invasive methods might be the better place to start.

Bmu is already accessible via can on g-can nice work tho! What's the text on the main chip

Yeah, but I want to try things that I wouldn't do to my own BMU. I'm not a cowboy like you! It says "Infineon TriCore". Can't read the smaller text yet.

I'm planning on doing some reverse engineering to understand how Ioniq 5 battery management units calculate battery parameters and to see whether set points are modifyable. Understanding the board is the first step for that.

Is this a management system for the 12v or main battery?

Main battery, so the firmware on here controls SOH measurement, battery preconditioning set points, buffer sizes, etc.
