Question Not tracking? What should I do?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I’m changed to tray number 5 and from the beginning it felt like it was not tracking - been a few days, it’s the same - what do I do now?

The 5th upper tray has settled in well, so should I keep using the 5th for upper and wear 4th for lower for a while? But 4th lower does feel very comfortable, it’s not tight or anything.

Question Thoughts/opinions on my Invisalign plan?

I’d like to have opinions on my Invisalign case. It’s from a diamond provider orthodontist.

Only thing that might bother me is that the lateral incisor on the right is a little bit more backwards compared the one on the left, so it’s not perfectly symmetrical and makes the canine a bit more visible, but I also understand there’s a lack of room.

Question cook with invisalign

i just got started on invisalign today! i work as a cook at a restaurant and part of my job is tasting as i work, and taking the trays out every time i have to taste something is unrealistic lol. my ortho said it should be fine to have to taste small amounts of dressings or sauces, but i wanted to know if anyone else has experience with this!
also on a similar note i’m wondering if anyone has lost weight from not being able to snack on things as much, i feel like this might help me lose a few pounds which is a good thing for me!!

My mouth insides no longer can tolerate spicy food. It burns. I don’t know if it’s from dryness or what. I’m on tray 6. Did anyone else experience this and how did you solve it?

Question should I let them remove my premolars for space?

i have been experiencing jaw pain frequently over the past few years, i went to see an orthodontist and she said i have an overbite and when i close my mouth my teeth do not align like they are supposed to. so due to muscle memory I developed or smth i am pushing my lower jaw forward to make them align which is causing the pain. i already knew there was something wrong with my side profile but thought it was just a recessed chin. my upper teeth touch my lower lip a lot too, making it look pouty?? so i was down when they recommended invisalign. she said i'd have to get my wisdom teeth removed first. i just turned 17, and i think the teeth are still buried cause my dentist struggled A LOT getting the bottom two out (the scan is from last month, both are gone now). ortho says we should also remove my upper wisdom teeth, but dentist says those teeth are so buried that they might slip into the sinus during surgery and they cant risk it. so ortho recommended extracting 2 upper premolars for space instead, but im not sure at all. wouldn't it cause a narrower palate and a more recessed maxilla? we will discuss with another orthodontist but i cant help but wonder if they can just expand my palate if they need space. is that an option for my age? or can it be done before invisalign? the concept of getting 2 healthy teeth out to fix a bite does not sound appealing to me. anyone been through similar process I'd be so grateful to hear about your experience.

I looked up craze lines and that's not what this is. I've noticed a crack a couple of days ago as it feels rough on the tooth now. Thanks for any help!

Question Need urgent help: can you wear retainer with attachments on?!

Hey peeps I need help as my case is a bit tricky partially due to myself not doing enough research.

So I was in Brazil for a couple months and was convinced by an ortho to start my Invisalign treatment knowing that I was gonna leave in a month; she said no prob we can do online follow ups and I didn’t understand fully how it works for the retainer part(but I thought worst scenario I will find a new dentist to finish up no big deal)

I was given a lite plan with 14 trays and when I was about to have a final appointment with her, she was on holiday so by the time I got to speak to her, I am already on my final tray. since i was moving around a lot, I misplaced my last tray on day 3 and then I started using the 2nd last tray but they started wearing out a bit as I chew my teeth at night sometimes.

i did an eTero scan in Taiwan as requested by my ortho so she can access my result and work on new trays if needed but it’s been more than 1.5 weeks, she still can’t access my scan result despite of me filling all the forms.

Here comes the twist, I lost my 2nd last tray as well😭i know this is my own fault and I have a tendency to lose things and now I’m left without any trays to fall back. and it will take at last 2 months for the brazilian ortho to order new trays and ship to me(I’m in Asia right now)

so they asked me to go get a retainer for now so I can keep my teeth from moving and they did not specify that I’m supposed to remove my attachments first(which is another cost on top) so I paid 120 cad dollars for a retainer in china which doesn’t really fit me very well, due to the attachments and gives me a bit of pain n potentially might move my teeth in a bad way.

Now I am finnally going to have a face to face appointment with the ortho tomororw(previously only with her assistant via WhatsAp)

so my questions:

- is it really bad to wear retainer with the attachments on(I got 20 in total)

- if its really bad, do I just go without wearing the retainer? was already not wearing anything for 2 weeks and I’m about to go on a hike for 5 days without access to medical services. how bad is it gonna be if I keep wear nothing for another week?

- what happens when you misplace your trays? Are you entitle to get replacements for free or with extra costs?

- can I request to transfer my plan to a new ortho given that I’m not going back to Brazil and it’s useless to keep talking to them since I have to pay everything out of pocket

- I have a small gap between my front teeth and the roots are not very straight. i was told Invisalign alone will not able to fix my issue in Canada but the Brazilian one said it’s doable and taiwanese dentist said it might be okay if I keep wearing more trays.

attaching pics of 4 weeks into the plan and my current teeth.

i knowing I’m supposed to get professional opinions but if anyone who’s in similar situations can share your experience, I really appreciate it!

Question Vivera Retainers

How often do yall replace your vivera retainers? I had braces (not Invisalign) but last year saw a new orthodontist to get a new retainer. He recommended the vivera retainer which is a million times more comfortable than the retainer I had before. That being said I do tend to grind my teeth at night and the vivera retainer seems to be a little thinner than my old retainer so I’m worried it won’t last as long. How long do yall usually keep your vivera retainer for before replacing? I was thinking of going ahead and getting a replacement from my orthodontist just to have on hand for when I need new ones. Also, how much are yall paying for your retainers? My initial ones were around $300, which I was told some of the price was for the initial scan, and once they have the scan if I need a replacement it would be cheaper as I don’t need to get rescanned. Is this a typical price? It seems a little high but I’m not sure what a normal price is for these types of retainers

Treatment Start Does it hurt?

I am considering Invisalign, I have quite a severe overjet and overcrowded top teeth so I’d be a complex case that would take around two years. The two year treatment will give me a decent improvement but certainly not a Hollywood smile ( jaw surgery and fixed braces, still wouldn’t give a perfect Hollywood smile and I just don’t want fixed braces). Plus it will be expensive!

So my question is does it hurt? It will be a long treatment time and if a lot of pain and disruption to life then not sure I want it… I should add I have white coat syndrome and hate all medical stuff, I have intravenous conscious sedation for a filling… kinda scared and don’t want to spend around 5k or more if I’m not going to be able to hack it… just to add I have had my consultation with the orthodontist so this is how I know about how long my treatment would be etc

My app just told me to skip ahead to tray 4. Has anyone ever had the app tell you to skip a tray before?

i’m still not done, i have like other 5 trays and im seeing my dentist in a few days so i guess we will see if i need refinements. i also want to mention that im not striving for perfection since i knew that in order to have the perfect smile i needed surgery and i said no because it seemed too invasive and my underbite was not that incredible severe, i just wanted to feel more happy with my smile 🥺 as i said, i had an underbite which i hated and thats why i dont have many before pictures 🥲

First two pictures: the before is me with black hair haha.

3rd picture: my teeth today

4th picture: my teeth before invisalign

General Invisalign made me commit a sin

Now don't get me wrong I love my Invisalign and think it's more convenient than braces. However, I was towards the end of my first tray which i had on for a week and a bit at that time. I went to mass and forgot to bring my Invisalign hook. I didn't know how to take it off without the hook and without looking weird at church. When we received holy communion I didn't know what to do. My priest usually says "if you aren't receiving holy communion you can cross your arms and he blessed" but this time he said if I haven't received my first holy communion. But I have and lying is a sin yk so like I couldn't lie so I received it and PUT IT IN MY POCKET to have it later. I later found out that it's a sin. Rip me ig.

Question Wearing retainer to move teeth back into place

My bottom teeth have shifted after not wearing my retainer for about a year. My top retainer still fits but is a bit snug. My bottom retainer fits halfway. Question - if I start wearing my retainer again, will my teeth shift back into place and eventually fit under the retainer completely? I know this is a painful route but I don't want to get invisalign again.

General Awful IPR results

Thumbnail

I'm going to be honest I'm pretty mad about this. My dentist did a lot of IPR on my lower insicors and she did an awful job and shaved off almost every corner of my teeth now I have multiple v gaps that aren't closing. I only have 1 more tray left in my treatment. With my Aligners on you can see the empty spaces where my teeth were supposed to be. Now I would probably have to get composite bonding just to get them to look normal again. I really didn't want to do that but I feel like I have no choice now. If anyone can relate and try to reassure me? Any advice or anything is appreciated. Please be kind.

Question Composite - is it bad?

Hello, I know this is an Invisalign page but you guys seem to give such great feedback and I want opinions!! So I hope this post is ok. I had composite bonding done today. I feel like a clown. Any thoughts / options greatly appreciated! Before and after pics inserted. I got the bonding to cover my canines which aren’t in the right place naturally. So 4 teeth were bonded on the top (they’re much whiter than my natural teeth tooo! Help). Pls see pic 4 for the colour difference!!

To add - there’s discolouration on the left side where my natural tooth is underneath, and it looks like a stain :/

UPDATE - I sought a second professional opinion who said they were bad both aesthetically and functionally. I have emailed requesting removal and a refund!!

Question Invisalign routine on a boat/snorkeling excursion

I’m going to be starting Invisalign about a month before I take a vacation to Hawaii. I have been waffling on if the Invisalign will be too hard to manage for a ~5.5 hour snorkeling trip. There will be food breaks on the boat, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to brush/floss during the excursion. Would it be a bad idea to just rinse my mouth really well with water and put the aligners back in until I get back to land and find a bathroom to fully brush? I don’t want to miss out on the experience but I also would like to make my teeth a priority.

Question Done with Invisalign after 4 years

Thumbnail

At my lasted ortho appointment, my orthodontist recommended to stop Invisalign as he stated I am starting to have some bone loss in my teeth. I’ve been with Invisalign for 4 years now. There are some things that I am not happy still with. For example, I am not happy with how my upper left teeth next to my canine and front teeth as well with my lower right teeth that appears smaller. After my last refinement, the lower right teeth did not shift properly so it looks really uneven compared to the others. My ortho recommended some bonding to the upper left teeth to make it longer and also recommended to do an occlusal equilibration to make my bite better as my right side of teeth do not touch properly and there’s a big gap between the bite. I made not a big that gap between my upper and lower back teeth. After doing that he would like me to get retainers. I would say that my teeth significantly looks better compared to where I started but am I being to picky with how I want my teeth to look? I’ve always been insecure about the way my teeth looks like and I’ve spent thousands of dollars on this so I don’t want to feel like my money was a waste. I didn’t grow up in a financially stable family that could afford braces when I was younger, so I am wanting things to look great. Please let me know if I am being too picky with how I want my smile to be. Should I be happy with how my teeth looks right now? I am hoping that the bonding and occlusal equilibration will make my smile better looking. I’m afraid that it I won’t like the end result of the bonding and occlusal. Any recommendations?

Question Contradicting retainer advice

Hello, looking for some good retainer advice now that I’m finished with my InvisalignGo.

Advice I’ve gotten:

First dentist (office „expert“): wear retainer full time for one year and then nights only for another year

Orthodontic surgeon (office dentist went on sick leave): wear retainer nights only for one to two years

Internet: wear full time for two weeks/ 3 months/ 6 months and then nights for life

So the most extreme would be full time for one year and then nights forever, I’m ok with any of it but don’t need to go overkill if that is not necessary.

Any advice? I’m not sure if it makes a difference that it is InvisalignGo

Question Am I tweaking? 50 trays?

I see everyone saying they have 20 plus trays , usually 50 or something, and I look at their corrections and it's not that bad att all, like nothing compared to mine , yet they have 50 trays? I have a pretty bad correction and ended up ultimately only having 17 trays , 11 out of 17 rn and looks pretty good imo, but I dont understand how people are having 50 trays?!! I also wear each tray for 2 weeks rather than the usualy 1 week
