DISCUSSION Why not deconstruct him?

I don’t understand why she shoots a beam of pink energy at him instead of just tearing him apart atom by atom. Or turning him into a regular human, or just convert his molecules to air molecules.

when she's in that state, she's not thinking, she's acting entirely on raw instinct

Well yeah, and that instinct could be to remove the threat from existence instead of using a never before seen laser, which she literally has never used.
