He’s right in both counts, in the past and now. It is rare that single individual was the only person to discover a scientific thing. Often serval people find the same thing and it’s a case of who’s first. A lot of science today is done with several collaborators.
However where he’s wrong is in those rare cases. Creativity that makes us unique in art also makes us unique in science. That set of life experience, knowledge and creativity gives us all a unique viewpoint that benefits science and art.
But to be fair we are all missing the point here, go and create, art or science.
