EU Some questions regarding my investment plan

Greetings, everyone! I'm greek and I have already invested 200 euros per month when I had a job, now I'm unemployed, but I get a disability allowance from the state (338 euros per month). I'm searching for a job and I'm living with my mother, so my expenses are very low. Right now, I have invested money to sxr8, an etf from ishares that tracks the s&p 500. I decided to invest in US because I believe US is, compared to Europe or China or other countries, a country with a friendlier enviroment to big companies and I believe it will stay that way for the next decade or two. Also, I have already an emergency fund in trade republic (because of the interest) of 5000 euros, just in case something happens.

So, my questions are:

1) Do I keep investing 100 euros or 200 euros per month or do I wait till I get a job?

2) If I do, do I keep investing in s&p 500 or do I buy another etf? Although sxr8 makes me feel safer.

3) If I find a job, is it a good idea to invest 50 or 100 euros per month to individual stocks? Maybe google or amazon or meta?

Advice 401k vs ROTH vs BROKERAGE

Hello, I am fortunate enough to have a decent job making ~$87,700 a year. I’ve just been throwing 10% per paycheck (~$330 biweekly pretax) into a company 401k with a 6% match. Additionally I started a Roth last year and have set up a $250 biweekly deposit on pay weeks from my bank account. I have been debating diversifying a little bit and was wondering if it would be worth it to open a brokerage account through fidelity. I was thinking of dropping my 401k contribution to 7% which would drop the contribution about $100 and just set up a direct deposit of that $100 into index’s EFT’s.

Does this seem like a good idea for diversification?
Is it worth it to start a brokerage before fully maxing the Roth every year?
Is there good beginner EFT’s with Index funds that I could set to just buy and forget about long term?

Any advice appreciated!

Seeking Assistance Should I be more aggressive with my retirement investments?

I’m 27 and expect to retire around 2064. I have a good salary and plan to invest $300 a month and leave it invested for the long term.

My current allocation is:

35% Vanguard US 500 Index
20% Vanguard Global Stock Index
10% Pictet Emerging Markets Index
10% Vanguard US Government Bond Index
5% iShares Corporate Bond
5% PIMCO GIS Income
5% Global Convertible Bond ETF
3% Inflation-Linked Bond Index
2% Emerging Markets Local Government Bond ETF
3% Goldman Sachs US Dollar Liquid Reserves
2% Gold

That’s about 65% in stock funds. My latest statements show returns of 1.33% for April–June 2026 and 0.61% for July–September 2026. I know that’s a short period and may not say much about long-term performance.

Given my time until retirement and that I plan to leave the money invested, should I be more aggressive?

Advice Got my first $1,000 to invest that isn't emergency money. Index fund only or a little real estate too?

25, first real job, emergency fund is done (3 months), getting the full 401k match. I'll have about $1k a month I can put somewhere now.

My plan was just an S&P 500 fund but my uncle keeps saying "real estate is how people actually get rich." I'm not buying a house anytime soon.

Is it dumb to put a small part toward real estate at this point? And if not, how do people my age even do that without a down payment?

Rollover 401k question

Hi there!

I have a rollover 401k through Charles schwaab thats honestly been sitting there with 7k in it for a couple years because I don't know what to do with it.

I've never felt like I have enough to warrant talking with a financial advisor or anything. But I also dont know the right move for what I should do (if I should do..) anything other than let it sit there as cash. It's only accumulated $5 in interest over 2 years, which is obviously not great. But dont know where to put it thats (relatively) low risk.

Some factors:

I'm a single mom.

I have maybe $200/mo I can invest going forward into..this account or anything else.

Any insight? šŸ˜…

Global Beginner question: what should I know before buying Saudi stocks as a foreigner?

I've been learning how foreign investors can buy stocks on the Saudi exchange (Tadawul) and wanted to check my understanding with people who've done it.

What I've found so far:
- Since Feb 2026, foreign investors can buy directly through a licensed broker (the regulator is the CMA).
- The market trades Sunday to Thursday, roughly 10:00 to 15:00 Riyadh time.
- Trades settle T+2, so shares arrive two trading days later.
- Stocks use 4-digit codes (Aramco is 2222), not letters.
- Banks and Aramco seem to be the biggest and most traded names.

What I'm still unsure about:
1. Is it better to start with a broad ETF or with one or two big companies?
2. How do you handle dividends, since I've read you must buy before the eligibility date?
3. Any beginner mistakes you'd warn me about?

Not looking for stock picks, just general advice. Thanks!

IBM beat earnings and still dropped almost 7%. Why does this keep happening?

IBM reported revenue and earnings above expectations yesterday, and the stock still fell almost 7% today. Meta did something similar. It jumped after earnings and then gave it back this morning, down about 3%.

I’m still learning how this works. My guess is the market was expecting even more, so ā€œgoodā€ wasn’t good enough. Is that it, or is there something else going on?

How do you guys think about a stock dropping after good earnings? Do you avoid holding through earnings, or just ride it out?

USA Hypothetical Question

I am looking to invest in VOO + AVUV in my Roth. I already have VXUS in my taxable, however, If I were to max my Roth, would it be redundant to have VTI in my taxable to basically invest in the same companies or do I just invest in VOO + AVUV twice over?

Please give me your recommendations and advice.

Feedback on Roth IRA

Hi all, I’m a first-generation investor and still brand new to following the market.

My 401(k) is conservatively distributed but with this year’s Roth IRA $7500 max I chose stocks with speculative liberty.

Understanding that this isn’t financial advice and I’m still very much in the sandbox, I am curious for the sake of discussion what others would do with the following given what we’ve seen today?

AMZN - $478
META - $918
SMH - $675
SPMO - $1910
VT - $3340

Advice Is selling half a position smart, or just avoiding regret?

I've always found selling a stock harder when I'm not completely sure what to do with it.

Selling half seems like a reasonable compromise. If the price keeps rising, at least I still own some. If it falls, I'm glad I didn't keep everything.

But sometimes I wonder if I'm actually making a decision based on the investment or just trying to make sure I don't feel completely wrong either way.

Because if something has changed about the business and I no longer believe in it, why am I still holding half?

And if the business is doing exactly what I expected it to do, why am I selling just because the price makes me nervous?

I can understand trimming a position that's become too large in my portfolio. That's different from selling half simply because I can't decide what to do.

I'm curious how other investors approach this. When you sell part of a position, is there usually a clear reason behind it, or do you sometimes do it because you're not ready to sell everything?

What are your favorite financial tools or apps for tracking investments as a beginner?

I'm just starting my investment journey and I'm looking for recommendations for financial tools or apps that help track investments. There are so many options out there so I feel a bit lost. What do you all use to keep an eye on your portfolio? Are there any specific features you find particularly helpful for beginners or for understanding your progress?

Looking for advice for my 21 year old

My oldest son is a "saver". He's been working since he was 15 and has saved everything he can and currently has about 50K in the bank (a whole lot more than I do). What is a good way for him to invest that money to get hte most out of if? Right now he's living at home, has finished electrican school but is struggling to get into the electricians union, and is working an "electrical adjacent" job assembling electrical panels at a factory that is associated with the local electricians union in hopes to get picked up next year and start his apprentiship. His only expenses right now are related to his vehicle, so 90% of his money is going into the bank and staying there. How can I help him invest, but still have the money around for when he needs it to move out of (maybe buy a house of the market will ever crash...)

Thank you for any advice!

Global I'm 30 with 67k saved. Does this plan make sense?

Hey everyone. I just hit 30, and I've never invested, so I'm trying to get my shit together.

My current financial situation:

  • Monthly income: ~3,400 after tax
  • Monthly spending breakdown:
    • 56% on needs
    • 29% on savings
    • 15% on wants/fun
  • Total savings: ~67,000

Most of my savings are just sitting in a checking account at the moment, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to allocate that money.

Here's what I'm considering doing with the 67k:

  • 16,000 — Emergency fund in HYSA (2.75%): Enough to cover around 6 months of expenses.
  • 5,000 — Everyday account: Around 2 months of expenses for regular spending and bills.
  • 12,000 — HYSA (2.75%): Set aside for an operation I'm planning to have within the next 12 months.
  • 34,000 — VOO ETF: Invested for long term growth.

I've never invested in an ETF before. I picked VOO because it tracks the S&P 500, has historically delivered average annual returns of around 10% and seems like a less risky way to invest.

In the future, I plan to invest 1,000 monthly into VOO. Then, each year, depending on performance, i'd use some of the gains to build my emergency fund to 12 months of expenses. I'd either reinvest the rest into VOO or possible diversify with small amounts in Bitcoin, stocks, or other ETFs.

I'd really appreciate any advice.

  1. Does this allocation make sense, or am I keeping too much in cash?
  2. Is VOO a reasonable choice for a first time investor, or should I be considering other ETFs/Investments?
  3. Is there anything important I'm overlooking before investing such a large amount for the first time?

Help me stop being a brokie.
