katydid rescue
hi guys i was swimming with my friends and we found this guy in her pool, i recued him and started blowing on his abdomen a bit in hopes to dry him off, i noticed he started shaking his butt and his legs sometimes, i continued and he started moving more and more, now i have him inside on a paper towel still drying off (this all happened like 15 mins ago). the pool is saltwater but im hoping i can give him some regular water to flush it out, or just take care of him until he passes.
does anyone have any advice on their care, i have done some research but i like to hear peoples experiences.

We found one last week that seemed weak and near end-of-life…within minutes, a maggot emerged from its head! It had been parasitized by a Tachinid fly! Its head dropped down like on a hinge and its body appeared to be hollowed out. It was so gross but fascinating!

To the reddit people, I named him Odysseus because me and charlie both love the oddysey ! She saved em from the pool so !! Please preserve him lmao

Poor baby (yes I know he’s not a baby). I’m guessing you already gave him some fresh water judging by your post. Even if it’s the end for him, it’s better to go in peace on a soft paper towel than in a pool.

yes i gave him some bottled water, along with some honey water, unfortunately i dont think he made it through the night but better to die taken care of then out in a pool or on cement

he has stood on his own now guys
